Windshield seal, '93 Legacy

We just purchased a 93 Legacy from an indivedual. The passenger windshield has a lot of caulking around the top. The previous ownedr said he was going to have an auto windshield company pop it out - replace the seal - and re-install it. I called a few and they were all leary stating that the windshield could easily be broken and they would not be liable.

Next i called Airstream. They said they could do it without removing the windshield and cost would be around $750. That seems like an awful lot of money for that.

Anybody have experience or ideas?

Winshield seal

George,
I had the same problem with my Airstream Motorhome windshield
before one go broken. A company that specialized in RV winshields
replaced the glass and guaranteed no leaks.
Well it leaked. I called them back and they put some stuff between
the rubber and the glass and it never leaked again. I asked them to
do the other side too and now it doesn't leak either. I sort of expected
big globs of sealant like you see on old RV's in campgrounds, but I cant'
see anything except the glass & rubber. To bad I was not there to watch and ask. They are a speciality company here in West Florida and know
their stuff. The insurance company recommended them. D&K Enterprises
in Clearwater FL 727-442-2767, you can call them and ask. Tell them I'm real happy.

Thanks Paul. Coachlight RV in Carthage MO is well known in this area for quality service. I have been there and am waiting on a quote to replace the rubber seals. Depending on what I learn or accomplish I may call D&K.
