Best VIN-report provider?
Dear follow (wannabe-)Airstreamers,
I'm orienting on purchasing an Airstream Classic Motorhome.
I've received the VIN of the vehicle, and now I'm wondering what a good site would be where I can get a report without having to subscribe for a lifetime membership, or a 3-month membership etc. ect?
What would be a cheap and simple site to get a singe VIN-report?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Greetings from Amsterdam.
Niek.

Hi Niek,
Sorry, I don’t know if a good service. Before buying a Classic, I was unaware they have two numbers.
One number, frequently more noticeable because of the contrasting plaque (bare aluminum), is installed by Airstream.
The other, on our coach is found close to the former but is the same color (black) as the rest the area and therefore harder to see, is installed by whoever made the chassis.
In the US vehicles are registered and tracked by the chassis VIN (not the number Airstream put on). In short, make sure you have the right VIN.

Maybe DM user boomsounds, as he (Nick) has reported he has successfully used one of the VIN decoding services. Just remember that VIN (even if using the correct GMC/Chevy VIN not the Airstream VIN) only became standardised and able to be decoded for all options, in the late 80’s/early 90’s before that date the VIN date is very limited.

"....Before buying a Classic, I was unaware they have two numbers....."
Well, I am unaware of that too.
I got the original Airstream invoice from the current owner, which says "Vehicle Identification Number" in the upper right corner, followed by a 17-character-code .
With the current owner, I'll try to figure out the correct VIN in order to officially track down the history of this vehicle.
But: anyone got good experience with certain VIN-websites?
Any recommendations?
Thanks "martin300662"; I'll contact BOOMSOUNDS in order to find a proper VIN-website.
Thanks very much folks!
Best, Niek.
