Parking

Hi John,
It's a large area and would park over 500 trailers. There are areas reserved for the rally staff and committee chairs. There are areas reserved for vintage parking, vendors, handicapped, and those who want to run generators.
For everyone else it's first come first served for the next available slot. They try to work the parking so no one has to back in, just pull forward and stop on the marks. If you are coming in a group that wants to park together, arrive with that group (have everyone wait somewhere until your all together), then you will all be parked together.
If you arrive late (the parking crew quits at 4:00) there will be a phone number posted at the gate. Call that number and someone will come and take you to your parking place. If you arrive very late, after everyone has gone to bed, you'll be safe out in the "bull pen" until morning.

Thanks Randy, so they have a system, and they escort you to the next available space?
This will be my first FSR or any rally of this size so I am curious how parking is handled. I am hoping for a Forums GTG and wondered how to get the word out as to where anyone was parked so the gathering could happen. I have seen the bulletin boards before at other rallys. So announce a gathering here on the Forums, have folks look for the place via the board? If there is a strong Forums presence at the Rally seems a shame not to gather at least once.

I would be happy to host a gathering at my place, just don't know where my place is!
If you know let me know so I can let us all know.

Dennis,, the rally is open to anyone that owns an Airstream product. It is not necessary to be a member of the WBCCI (the Airstream Club) to attend but pretty sure you would need an Airstream product to come in and park(camp). They probably have some sort of "day pass" available so you could come in and check things out. It would be a great way to gain some insight into the world of Airstreaming, and I'm sure you would be welcome.!
And welcome to the Forums, a great place to start Airstreaming. Hope you can get your Stream soon.. John

Hi, Dennis,
Welcome to the forums!
You will have to wait for an "official" answer from Silver Cabin, but my best guess would be, yes, you're more than welcome to visit (for example there is a public vintage Airstream open house one day) but you can't bring your non-Airstream motor home to the rally.
You might check with the fairgrounds. . . many fairgrounds with RV hookups offer public camping as well as as hosting rallies, so you might be able to camp in a camping area open to the public and wander around the rally all you want. Airstreamers are friendly.

Hi Dennis, and let me add my welcome too.
True, you can't bring a non-Airstream RV to the rally. There is a public campground on the other side (east side) of I-75 about 5 miles away from the rally site. The fairgrounds does have camping for anyone when it's not holding a special event like the FL State Rally. There will be some non-Airstreams parked on the grounds, but these are vendors only.
Anyone can come on the grounds during the day and walk around. The vintage open house is on Saturday afternoon. The vendor booths are open to visitors too. You would have to be registered at the rally to attend the seminars, evening programs, etc. There is an off-site rate of $135.00 for two, that would provide you entrance to those activities if you wanted to take advantage of that.
Please come if you can.
Randy

Hi John,
Yes they do escort you to the next available parking space.
In the main arena (Roberts Arena) there will be bulletin boards for various announcements, Unit Functions, Trailers/Motorhomes For Sale, etc. It will also include a locator board listing where everyone is parked. If you wanted to host a GTG, I would post the information here, and on the bulletin board in the arena. There is WiFi available in the arena, and many people check their email daily.

Good News
Because it wasn't properly advertised in the Blue Beret, on the coupon, or on the Florida State Rally website, the rate increase that I talked about in post #21 above is no longer. So far only 2 out of the 41 registrations I have processed since January 1st have sent in the additional money. If you are one of those, your extra funds will be refunded at the rally.
You still had to have your regstrations postmarked by December 31 to be entered in the raffle to get your rally fee back. There are 222 of those registrations, so your odds of winning up to $195.00 is 1 in 222. Not bad.

There are two seminars on Friday which should be of interest to many folks. The first is scheduled for 8am-10am is presented by Howie Lefkowitz and members of the Technical Committee. The subject is Airstream Maintenance "How propane appliances work" and the second hour will be a open forum to discuss maintenance items.
The second seminar is scheduled for the following two hours and is"introduction to caravanning" with several caravan leaders presenting. Both Unit (shorter) caravans and National caravans will be discussed.
Both of these will be worthwhile.

I will contact some of the folks at the rally and see if we can get a list. Some of the vendors often put on a seminar, it depends who is there. zip-Dee normally has one, Fowler's interiors, Sky Med also present seminars.

It's the Sun N Fun RV Resort and Campground Vacation Rental Homes, RV Resort, Tenting, Vacation Homes for Sale in Sarasota, Florida
You can come to the rally early (Sunday and Monday) and get parked for an extra $15.00 per night. The events start on Tuesday evening.

Send a PM to startrekker2001. I think he is doing the program books and may have a list of the seminars he can post here.

I am not sure I will be released by my doctor in time for the rally. Can I come in on tuesday or wednesday without a reservation?

My wife and I would like to check out the vintage open house. Not an Airstreamer yet, but we are actively seeking a 26ft 13 panel project.
1. Can we just walk right in to the rally?
2. How many "vintage" Airstreams typically show up? Is there a place to look at the registrations to see how many and what will be there?
Thanks,
Chuck
