Damn, here we are going downhill again. We wish we would have read about the South Haven gig. Could have done a color tour on the way over. Got the blue noodles tuned up and Cat reprogrammed the computer for another 20 h.p. Ready to go drag racing now. Bring your Dodge on Ralph.

What a glorious weekend in South Haven! Warm, sunny days, tall ships and cool nights around the campfire introducing my shipmates to the joys of airstream livin'.

Buck, don't fret about missing this weekend. Derek and I are most likely heading back again next weekend, so feel free to join in. I have another weekend of de-rigging on the ship and find it easier to just stay in South Haven rather than drive back and forth each day.

We will see what this weekend holds. I've got to get our boat out of the water also.
It sounds like you own a good size sailboat. I used to crew on a 39' catalina.
The owner would sail it from Detroit to Tobermory,Ont. every spring and sail it back in the fall. It was work, but a lot of fun.

My personal boats are quite small (a bass boat, and a couple of small sailboats), but I crew on the tallship Friends Good Will that is based out of South Haven at the Michigan Maritime Museum. She's a replica of a sloop that was built in the Detroit area, captured by the British at Fort Mackinac and was captured by the Americans in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. She's 101' from sprit to stern and in the past five years I've been all over the great lakes with her. There are over 50 people in the Ship's Company, but we sail with a crew of 14 on our extended journey's. The longest I've been aboard is 12 days, but I think I could easily make a summer out of it.
