New WBCCI Name Poll

Ok, I'm going to do a poll here for WBCCI members only (not to offend non-members, but you'll see where I'm going with this).

Vote yes, change the name
Vote no, keep the WBCCI name as is

Vote, then add a post to this thread with your WBCCI number, and say which way you voted. That's just to sho that it really is WBCCI members voting.

No discussion, we have another thread going on for that already. Lets just keep this one a straight vote from current WBCCI members.

Let's see how many WBCCI members are active on this forum and what they really think about the name change.

Voted YES. I think it's kind of a dumb name, but I don't really really really really much care one way or the other: WBCCI # 6400.

I vote no change

I joined the WBCCI However I would join a new club too if it were started. BTW I joined after the vote or survey, I think.

I voted "No", too, for the same basic reason as many - the names not the problem. However, if it does change, I hope Wally's names is still in there somewhere (e.g. Wally Byam Airstream Club, or similar). Why give up on the history of the club?

The name's fine. There's other things that need changing and/or revising but not the name.

I voted yes.

Not to remove Wally Byam from the name, but to replace caravan with Airstream. The club has evolved away from caravaning over time. What most members do now is rally, not caravan as in Wally's era. What most 'caravans' are today is a shadow of the around the world ones that they started off with ~ yes, there are a few well planned, highly organized real caravans each year, but nothing like the true adventures of Wally's in the 50's that the club was organized for.

I think by changing the name away from Wally Byam Caravan Club International to something like Wally Byam Airstream Club would better represent what the club is about...Airstreams, not just caravans. It would also be recognized more by non-members as what it is. As a recent past president, I can't tell you how many times I had to explain what the club was to people when trying to make luncheon or camping reservations. I found most times I just said it was "The Airstream Trailer Club"...then people knew who we were.

Do I or don't I....

Well, I am now in an official quandry.

Do I, or Don't I put the 'Official' WBCCI Logo Sticker on SilverToy, along with the numbers?

I mean with the changes that are afoot, perhaps all this Red Numbers, Round Logo, beret (on order), red jacket (backordered - I forgot to ask about the shoes, white I think!) will be passe, like last years fashions and I'll look like a real Boob, AND with 14+ stickers to peel off.

WHAT DO I DO??????????????

Name change

I think the name should be changed. No one knows who Wally is anymore. If we want the club to grow, the name should reflect the most marketable commodity it has, the Airstream name.

Leave it alone - hope a few in the WBCCI HQ read this thread. I still can't believe this passed in the first place.

#5013, although a member-at-large. Traditionalist, I say leave the name, or at most, change "caravan" to Airstream, but keep the Wally. I like being connected to something that has lasted and represents our prized trailers. Sure, refresh the Club to better include younger family members, but respect the past. Maybe Max and I (60's) will even be persuaded then to visit and join a local Missouri club. Remember the old Girl Scout song? "Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold." Surely seems to apply here. ~G
