New AS Club Benefits

I see that, effective 1/1/21, the AS Club has formed partnerships with Michelin Tire and Griot's Garage to save members some money.

I have never used Griot's products but since they now offer a 15% discount it might make sense to explore what they have to offer. Any experienced users?

Thanks!

I’ve used many products from Griot’s Garage. They’re generally pretty good. I use quite a few of their tools and car washing accessories. I’ve stopped using their car wax, because it’s very difficult to remove after application. Their polishes and paint glaze are very nice.

How does one take advantage of these partnerships, and where do I go to see this information?

I’ve used Griot’s Garage products for more years than I can recall, and I’ve never been unhappy with their products or customer service. Sure, you can find cheaper car care stuff out there, but for the most part in this life, you get what you pay for. Looking forward to taking delivery of our Basecamp 20X in July, and you know I’ll be going at it with some stuff from Griot’s.

I was curious about that as well. I've not familiar with Michein's tires for trailers, Agilis is what they are called.

I'll definitely be considering this program when I need tires for my truck though.

I tried to call the Michelin Advantage team today and could not get a human, but I am puzzled. If my tire size is not on the price list, am I out of luck?. Not sure i would use them as they only list one dealer in my area, in the program, and i would not use that dealer for even little red wagon tires. Guess I have a lot of questions for now but may stay with Tire Rack/Tire Buyer, et al.

There is a lot of info regarding the Club’s new benefit programs on the airstreamclub.org website. You must Log In and then go to the Member-Only Benefits section. The Michelin Advantage program was just announced Jan 1. With today being the first real business day of the new year, I doubt anyone has completed a purchase as yet. The program includes the full line of Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal tires. The price list currently published shows only an example of common sizes. A searchable-by-size version will be available on the Airstream Club site soon.

Michelin does not make a “trailer tire” in the ST sense but many on this forum have been using and recommending their light truck tires for years. The 16” Michelin is OEM on several Airstream models. There are tons of threads concerning this.

The Defender line is used on many AS trailers as was the LTX M/S2 before it. The Agilis is a new Michelin line. There is a product description sheet for it on the Club website or go to michelinman.com or michelintruck.com for info on all their tires, depending on your specific needs and application.

The Michelin Advantage Program discount pricing for Airstream Club members is available for their passenger cars, SUVs, tow vehicles, etc. It can also provide roadside assistance and ensure uniform discount pricing on tires whether at home or out on the road hundreds of miles from your local authorized Michelin dealer. You are essentially buying tires directly from Michelin and not the dealer. You’ll pay the dealer their normal charges for services provided such as mounting, balancing, etc. You are billed directly from Michelin for the tires. The local dealer doesn’t see the tire price you are charged.

Read the info on the website for more insight into the program. The Club is working with Michelin to do a webinar on the program and will let members know when it is scheduled. Plan is to record it and post it to the Club website afterwards. Stay tuned!

Hope that helps.

Good point Lucky about asking this question too, soon! I am interested because I ordered my 2016 FC direct from the factory with 16” Michelin’s and they are normally my first choice for trucks and cars.

Picked up a bolt near the sidewall on the trailer while in Colorado in August 2019.that required adding air every 50 miles. Tire shop refused to repair and they didn’t have a single replacement offering. Called around CO and WY on no one had the LTX. Called Michelin direct and the only ones they could locate were in Atlanta! Drove on to Cheyenne where I got a cheap replacement size and e rated to become my spare.

Those sound like some pretty neat benefits. I never heard of Griot’s Garage before, but I like that poly wax stuff. Been on the ropes for years about re-joining the club. Not sure this puts me over the top, but for sure positive.

This is all about adding value to an Airstream Club membership. These two new partnerships are in addition to the also recently announced partnership with Passport America. Airstream Club members get 6 months free with a one year membership to Passport America. PA offers discount camping at nearly 1600 campgrounds. The discount represents a $22 value for Airstream Club members. Club members can also take advantage of 15% discount on a Harvest Host membership.

The Club is working on additional discount programs for its members. This is another example of a growing and evolving WBCCI.
