Another Kenwood Question

Since the last thread concerning Kenwood issues was resolved successfully, I thought I would try my luck. I have a Kenwood DNX890HD in my 2014 Interstate and am having mixed results trying to get the rear speakers to work.

I can get the rear speakers to work with the HD radio by toggling the zone 2 button on the remote. I cannon get the rear speakers to work with any other function. I've played around with the audio settings and haven't had any luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Kwils25,
I also have DNX890 in my 2014 AS. If the controls are not responding as described on page 107 of the Kenwood instruction manual I would contact Kenwood directly to help troubleshoot. I had a problem with the Garmin GPS where the gps would freeze up all the time even after resetting the system several times. It was decided after a conference call between AS customer service and Garmin support to replace the entire system under warranty. There is a firmware update for the DNX890 that was released in May 2013, the update includes fixes but not specifically for audio, but still a good idea to update it after you get past your issue. If you don't have the manual you can download it from Kenwood's website at http://kenwoodusa.com, hope this helps.

Thanks Rsknutson for the post. I've just sent an inquiry into Kenwood.

I did get a reply from Kenwood, seems the unit was wired wrong. See the reply below:

"I understand you are experiencing audio issues with your DNX890HD. This usually happens if the vehicle is equipped with a stock amplifier and it is not receiving power from your car stereo. The Kenwood harness has a blue with white stripe cable that can be used to provide power to this amp. If you connected the solid blue wire to the power control of your amplifier, the unit will only provide power while the antenna is being used (FM radio). Once you switch to CD or USB, this wire stops providing your amplifier with power thus you will get no audio."

Now, where do I find the amplifier in order to check this out?

I'd recommend you take it back to your Airstream dealer for fix if you can.
