Am I making the correct decision?

Taking our 2019 Atlas in to trade for 2022 Atlas.

This morning steps broke after being fixed in September and barely being used as it is parked next ti our house!!

Also, skylight won’t close and is bungeed so it doesn’t fly off.

$265,000 for crap? I think a rolls Royce would have better quality control

Can’t get much for a quarter million dollars!!

I guess what is the major difference between the 2019 and the 2022? And do you have lots of miles on the 2019? I don’t own a Class B simply because of the cost and limited use of a CLASS B; especially the Airstream. For $250,000 I can get an awful lot of Travel Trailer PLUS a really nice pickup to pull it. And the pickup is more useable. But that’s me. If I traveled extensively and the CLASS B was the major means then I can see the use. I notice you own a 30’ International. Why have a Class B?

You don't HAVE a Rolls-Royce. You have a fancy-looking box built on a cutaway Sprinter cargo-truck chassis (of questionable reliability) that's an amalgam of off-the-shelf parts (also of questionable reliability) assembled by a travel trailer manufacturer who has a singular product, but who also isn't known for their attention to detail.

And now you're talking about trading your old one for more of the same?

We have been at this Airstreaming thing for almost 16 years now. We have 2,280 nights of Airstream camping under our belts. Both times that we have replaced our dear Lucy, we have considered other options, including B and B+ Vans. After due consideration, we decided to stick with another Airstream Travel Trailer.

We are very fortunate to be able to afford just about anything that we want. We continue to decide that the Airstream Trailer best fits our camping style. We have had our current Lucy for 7 years, and have spent about 800 nights in her.

We like the idea of a camping unit that is outfitted and cutomized for our wants and needs. When a more desirable tow vehicle comes along, we just go out and buy it. Tow vehicles come and go, Lucy remains the same.

Yep, prices skyrocket but quality control remains an issue.

And this is why some of us prefer the older, simpler models, without all the bells, whistles, gizmos and gadgets.

You have to love a ClassB to be part of that group, as they are not for everyone.

But, they are everything to some of us, and all we have ever wanted.

The 22 has more features(MB), we were tired of jockeying around the 30 ft., hard for an “old guy” to hook up the blue ox, wanted a warranty, and we assume that Airstream MAY have the quality control worked out….

We absolutely love our 2021 Bambi 19 that we tow with our Wrangler!!

Could be step repair was poorly done and the skylight is a relatively minor item. Frustration maybe the bigger problem? If so we can relate Perhaps not applicable but van sitting long periods without use can be hard on stuff. No doubt it feels like we pay Rolls prices and detail appears compromised somewhere in the manufacturing. Isn't that the world of RV? We have had to remind ourselves the frustrations are just part of the adventure. We aren't ready to quit yet

There was another post of a new 27 ft 2021 Trailer with shot brakes in 25K miles of travel. I know your trailer and she has followed a Silverado for many miles. Just curious how man miles have you got out of Lucy’s brake shoes?

I can understand not wanting to mess with WDH etc. Especially as one gets older.

It just seems much cheaper to fix whatever issues with the 2019. That depreciation hit on a 2022 is big time. Easily pay for some minor repairs.

I have thought about a Class B, and I think I would get the Ford platform with the 3.5 ecoboost before the Benz diesel based upon people stating there are service issues with the diesel. There are some really nice Class B’s with that, and repairs etc would be much cheaper.
