Sleeve it and pin it. That way you can take it on the road with you anytime..
Could store it inside the camper then.

Honestly, this would be my solution. It might even fit with the window closed.
We've used our trailer for moving bulky goods from time to time. Payload is certainly not an issue

It's easier than that, just take the screws out of the back window screen and put it inside.

Cut it in half

Cut it in half, stand each in rear corner of pickup bed and fly T 2024 political flags on each. Now, you'll have two flag poles when you get home. /s

Most full size trucks are around 20 feet long or more. Use roof racks and have a couple of feet hang over the front and rear. My Tundra has a cap with racks for kayaks which would make it simple for me.

Maybe not the best idea, but depending on your floor plan can you open the rear window and stick it in all the way to the front of the trailer...making something to support it in the middle. The rear window however would probably need to be open while you are driving...so once again, probably not a good idea.

Just so I will know. How much does the 28' flag pole weigh? The weight would have a lot of bearing on how I would try to handle it. And if it is 500 plus lbs just writing the check for transport would be in consideration. Maybe find somebody with an empty boat trailer?

I would contact my local electrical contractor and see if they have or know someone with a utility pole trailer you could rent.

Hire the local Boy Scouts to march it home on their shoulders?

I've done the same. A steel supplier suggested it when I bought some 20' steel.
It made a racket but worked well.

Strap a 16 ft 2x4 to the top of your tow vehicle and strap the pole to that.

Okay, since we're tossing out ideas, I'd forget the trailer.
Wrap the middle of the pole with carpet and put it on the truck roof.
Strap it with a couple ratchet straps through the windows if needed. Keep it centered.
Make a cheap crutch for the rear by crossing a couple pieces of 2 x 4.
Tie the front to the front bumper; you see canoes doing this all the time.
There's almost no wind load on a flagpole compared to a canoe or kayak.
Yes it will stick out a few feet in the back, so attach a red flag. The height will be above car roofs anyway.
I read it's legal to stick out 4' behind you and 3' in front.

Here's a crutch from a sailboat. It doesn't have to be pretty just function.
