Remodeling a '76 Argosy 28ft w/ center bath

Howdy Folks! We are doing a remodel on the back half of our '76 Argosy in order to make it more comfortable to live out of long-term. Basically taking out the center bath since we will have an exterior bathhouse, splitting the closet to a smaller one on either side of the hall, adding a small desk space under the old bathroom window, and putting in a full bed under the back pano-window.

The problem we have run into is that we would like to put in a hard surface floor, but don't have the money or the time to replace the subfloor so that it is perfectly even. There are a few pre-existing patches and there will be a few more now that we are pulling out the bathroom.

Any thoughts or ideas on a good hard surface flooring that would go in nicely despite the inconsistencies in the subfloor? Thanks in advance!

If the inconsistent levelness of the floor is the issue, there are self leveling products that can be used. Some RV owners have used Ardex that is self leveling and can be feathered down to virtually nothing. If you did something like that, you could then put whatever you like over it. Some use Ardex prior to installing linoleum. Good luck

Hey there, thanks so much for the feedback! In my research, I did look at that option but had a few concerns with using some sort of epoxy or self-leveling agent. Mainly that it would keep us from accessing the capped-off tanks if we wanted to utilize them at a later time and that if a portion of the floor is in need of repair we would be unable to access the subfloor to address it.

Any thoughts on using this product but avoiding such issues?

Maybe not do the entire floor but the places that need leveling. High spots can be sanded with a floor sander. Just the low spots would need building up. What about a 1/4” piece of underlayment stapled to the subfloor and taper the edge with a self leveling product? 1/4” plywood is actually less than 1/4”. Maybe others have a different approach. We’ll see. Take care and I’ll keep thinking.
