Jack gear

In case anyone is wondering... this is what the top of the crank looks like. I added some bearing grease to it while I had the top off for painting.

Our reno thread is "Little Girl Refurb" in the '70's section. Floor replacement is in the early part. We slid the rear 2 floor pieces in from the rear as our plate was completely destroyed. Did a lot of work to repair our rear end separation.

Another day

Don't really have any progress pictures, basically just put a second coat of paint on the tongue and cleaned/painted my rusty old sway control unit... figure I'll fill in the lack of useful pictures today with one of the two mementos we found while gutting. The other one is a matchbook from a swingers club in Kansas... has a rating system for the guys that give you a light I guess, don't want to get confused down the road and call ugly Joe by mistake
I'll post some pictures of the bath once I get the inner skin off, which is next on the list... still pondering how invasive I want to go with the floor back there.

Wingnutt,

We did a "Shell-on-Restro" on our 1976 Argosy. The pictures are worth a thousand words, hopefully.

You can see a line, this is where we cut the plywood in two. Which allowed for easy insertion into the 1/2" channel around the shell.

Of note, in a place or two this channel was compressed. We used brute force to pry it back into shape and fit the 1/2" plywood.

Wingnutt,
Thanks for starting another Argosy customization thread. You've likely stumbled across it but the Classic Argosy Reno thread is:

Contemporizing 1976 Argosy D - opinions please

To each their own but I wouldn't be so quick to ditch the gas stove and oven. Even if you're not planning to camp anywhere that doesn't have full hook-ups the ability to cook anywhere anytime is a great benefit on a long haul day. Plus, we've used ours during an extended power outage before we had a gas cooktop in the house. Induction cooktops require special pans. It sure is nice to pop a frozen lasagna in the oven, after using to keep the cooler cold, and have a hot dinner with no pot/pan to clean up.

Lots of very long threads on oven vs no oven; almost as hot of a topic as... wait for it... trailer tires . One word of wisdom I gleaned was, if you use your oven at home you're likely to use it in the Airstream... if not, then not so much . FWIW, a common response is, "yeah, we use our oven.. for storage". It is a mouse proof zone and the most compelling use I've seen suggested was as a wine cellar .
