Recommendation for replacement water pressure regulator

Hello,

I have a 1971 Land Yacht Overlander and I can't get water to run through the city connection system. After reading the threads and through process of elimination I believe the issue is a frozen and closed water pressure regulator. I believe I've checked all the valves which were open in addition to the facet and water heater drain -> no water.

Question 1: has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, what was the cause and remedy?

Question 2: where is the best place to purchase a durable water pressure regulator valve?

Question 3: what problems should I expect when replacing the existing regulator and what parts should I consider purchasing to fix whatever else may not work/break when I replace the regulator?

Thank you,

Travis

Can you post a pic of your existing regulator setup? Typically when a reg fails its in a full pressure bypass type senario, more info would help.

Welcome to the Forum and the world of Vintage Airsteams.

The same problem happened on my '72. Regulator wasn't completely stuck shut but couldn't handle any volume of water passing through it.
The regulator on the TW was buried in a tangle of freeze-expanded copper pipe jammed against the bathroom bulkhead. Wasn't worth the effort to install a new one.

I think you may have more room to work in the Overlander but I ended up having to replace the city water feed pipe, with a new check valve on the outside end, connecting to a decent cold water pipe by the water heater.

Expanded OE copper piping in the Vintage units is very common so removing the old regulator and installing a new one can be challenging.

Since we rarely are connected to city water, preferring to use the on-board freshwater tank, I just use one of the small brass inline regulators when necessary. So far no problems.

Good Luck,
Tom

Google watts water pressure regulators. You could also remove it completely and gob with one you put on your hose connection. There are many that go on the hose hookup outside the trailer. Watts even has one watts LFH560. Google RV water pressure regulator, you'll see lots of options. Either way works.
Mine was hard piped with hose inlet next to sewer outlet, didn't like that . Replumbed with new shurflow inlet through the side of the trailer, that's a bit more involved though.

Thank you all for the feedback. Unfortunately I just get to work on it during the weekends so I'll let you know how it goes.
