Lost a dear person Monday

On Monday I lost the love of my life after 46 years of marriage. My wife Patty succumbed to a Sepis infection after 7 days of hospitalization. She has been beset by many issues over the years but we have always persevered. It has affected our time out and due to her not feeling well our hosting of the Moraine View rally has been spotty. We missed again this year although we came close to going. I just couldn't see here going if the wasn't feeling well.

Today for the first time in years she is without pain, and can be free of the human frailties that she had. I rejoice for the reward she is now receiving. She passed with faith in God and the forgiveness of her sins. For those who met her, never forget her and her compassion and thoughtfulness for others. She truly was one of those who you wish there were more of. Thanks to all of you who knew her and were a friend, and hopefully take a piece of her in your heart to share with others in your daily life.

I will move forward in life, probably do some additional part time work in my retirement job. As most of you guys who are married realize that your home inside is really a reflection of your spouse and her tastes. In this case my home is Patty and right now it's pretty painful having to be here looking at all the things that made it what it is today. Time will pass and it will get better. Hopefully I am going to try to get out more and do some more outings. I'm also going to finish painting the kitchen with the paint she bought me a few weeks back. It's the least I can do to finish that last thing she asked for.....

Here's her obit.

Canavera, Patricia "Patty" Ann (nee Marler), 66, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018.

Beloved wife of over 46 years to John "Jack", and mother to son John, dear niece, cousin, and aunt, and sister in-law to many. Patty was preceded in death by her mother Beulah Marler (nee Maret), father Gilbert Marler, and Grandparents Edna Maret (née Esprey) and Francoit Maret.

A loving mother and homemaker, Patty enjoyed arts & crafts, reading, and classic movies. She was always there to help those in need and was a friend to everyone she met. Patty was one of those people who you met that always had a good word for you. She prided at her son John’s accomplishments in radio and the concert entertainment business. She also was a major supporter of her husband’s IT career, even though it meant for her, many a missed supper time, calls at night, and work duties that pulled him away from home at times. She was one of those people who was the selfless support provider in a family, that allowed others in the family to standout and excel. While Patty did not get the recognition that many get in their working careers, her accomplishments were her love to others, guidance, and devotion to her family. Her greatest achievements in life were being a wonderful, supportive, loving role model to her son John, and a devoted, supportive wife to Jack. While in her later years she was beset with many medical issues, Patty with support from Jack and John, fought through and dealt with them. And while those issues diminished her functionality, she never gave up. She left this world battling those issues to the end. For those who knew her circumstances, you saw that she never let them change her caring manner or concern for others. Her absence has left a hole in many hearts and we will miss her deeply.

Yeah, but you never know when the clock runs down. I lost my father when I was 20. He was 50 when he died and remember his plans of what he was going to do when he retired. He never got to those plans. I made a vow that I would never have that happen to me and bought my first trailer back when I was 28. At this point I have no regrets because even with Patty's passing, we've been all over the country during the time where we were the most healthy and active. Our only restrictions were the work job, but as my sister noted today as we were going through pictures, "you guys have been all over!".

So sorry to hear of this, Jack.

Patty was a very sweet woman, and so lucky to have had your devoted care these last years.

Sorry for your loss Jack. We looked forward to seeing Patty at Moraine View Rally each June and visiting with her. She was so pleasant and fun to be around. She will be missed but not forgotten.
