I'm sure I have an old Mississippi (MS) plate at home. I'll look tonight & mail it in the morning. Last year my mother gave me several old plates, including the ones from '61 & '63, the years of our Airstreams. What a great school project!

Sorry, folks!! Work (and homework) got in the way of this for a bit.
Boy has been keeping a list and saving all the envelopes that the plates came in. However, he neglected to keep a list on the envelopes of what came in the package, and I wasn't able to reel in his excitement so that I could keep track of those that said "no need to reimburse" (for which I could never ever completely express my gratitude). I think I can sort it all out given some time based on pm's, posts and return addresses. If I get stuck you'll see a post here.
I will check with his list tonight while baking my pecan praline pumpkin pies. I should have an update this weekend.
Thanks again to all!!!

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle
Skip,
I sent the plates listed in Posts #2 and #4. I also enclosed a note that I did not want the postage reimbursed.

We didn't want postage reimbursed either...But pie is another matter all together!
Hope it's going together well.

I sent the AZ and CA plates and no need to reimburse for postage. Reimbursement by pie is another thing all together.

I don't really want to buy them but I will pay for mailing. Post here or send me a pm if you feel the desire to help out a budding 8 year old Airstreamer get through school.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Dear Sir, If for some reason you fall short of all 50 states, pictures of the state plates missing are on line. Search: plates of all 50 states. The pictures are good, and printed in color look very real. Good luck.

The rarest of U.S. plates is probably the Washington D.C. license plate. Hawaii and Alaska plates are surprisingly easy to come by.

Just 'cuz I think it's cool to share this one, here's the UK plate my friend Jim sent me for you. It came as part of a package, so no worries on reimbursing postage, either from England or from me to you.
Jim owns a Land Rover, and the club he belongs to take them out off-roading for weekends to relax and get muddy. He said this plate is no longer legal, but I have no idea why. Since he had to get new plates, he was happy to help your son’s school project.
I’ll pm you once I get it in the mail so you’ll know it’s on its way.
Chris

Update!!! Christmas time put me a bit behind. I finally got an update from the school head master. In this weeks newsletter he gave a list of what is needed.
"License Plate Geo Art Project: The School is collecting old license plates for a School geography project. We are trying to collect license plates from all fifty states. We still need plates from Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Georgia, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. If you have any license plates you are willing to donate, please drop them off at the School office."
<emphasis added by me>
Thanks so much to all who have helped so far. I have a running list and will send out postage reimbursement soon.

Ok, I was just checking out Brad's map as it stood mid-November, see attachment.
Some of the states listed above as still needed are colored-in on the map. (You know who you are)
Only 15 states left right now. I now there are a lot of very active members in some of them. You don't have to rip them off your Airstream, a neighbor's car will also work.

Funny Vaughn. I was just updating the map to show the new info and some of the colored in states had to be uncolored in. Did some of you who promised to send in a plate not do it? Shame, shame. This is a child's school project. How could you disappoint him like that? I imagine the head master is also disappointed.
Yup, a neighbor's vehicle will work.
