Trying to iron out all the bugs in my power sterring/autopark/hydroboost system and need to purge the air out of the system after replacing a hose. The PO put ATF in the pump reservoir. The owners manual states that ATF can be used in an emergency. The service manual states to flush the unit after any repairs. Has anyone done this procedure and what is the best way to accomplish this to get it out of all the components. 1991 Airstream Land Yacht 36 w 454cu in.
Fill reservoir with PS fluid.
Start engine, turn steering wheel lock to lock.
Remove fluid in reservoir using your favorite fluid removing tool.
Refill reservoir.
Turn wheels again lock to lock.
Drain reservoir again.
Repeat until ATF is gone from reservoir.

I was wondering if while holding down the brake peddle, waiting for brake light to go out, do you hear a loud vibration noise. Thats what mine did when it had air in the system, after I had the leaking reservoir replaced. The air worked itself back and foamed out through the reservior.
