    A friend who is a competent tech work on it at my place. I worked alongside him. The control was relatively easy to remove, just two screws and the assembly wiggled loose and dropped down and was accessible under the dash at the far left. We opened the driver's door and worked at it from below.

    The headlight relay was simply attached with a bracket to the back and the circuit was modified to provide that the compressor control switch activated the relay which in turn provided the power to the compressor. This minimized the amperage that flowed through the compressor control switch - less amperage means less wattage, means less heat. The relay, as I recall, was a 4-prong one.
