Worth it or Not

Hi Guys,
I have the opportunity to purchase a 1987 34.5 Airstream Classic motorhome for $10,500.00 asking. The body is straight , the clear coat is in tact. It's being kept under a tarp. The interior is clean with minimal wear. It's optioned with the garbage compactor and separate ice maker. The fridge is newer and works.Dash air does not...no surprise here. The mileage is 123,000. The tires are shot. The frame is clean however I did find a couple of spots on the lower rockers with some rust through. One of the large storage drawers won't slide fully out.One of the rear corner window has been replace but improperly installed by the DIY owner. They replaced the airbags and the gas tank during there ownership Sounds like a good deal. Here is the catch. The older couple (80s) that have owned it for 23 years have not used it in "several years". Other than an "occasional move up or down the driveway". It will crank but only if the carbs are primed.I am trying to guesstimate what it will take to make it road/travel worthy. The couple are unwilling to allow it to leave the property to be mechanically inspected as it is not registered.Having parted with my 91 35 LE 10 years ago . I am not current on what $$$$ might lie ahead, Advice ?

Talking

I definetly wouldn't trust it without a minimum of new tires, brakes, belts, batteries and hoses.
How much of the work can you accomplish yourself? If your a DYI person who is confident working on most things then the cost is considerably cheaper. Even if you are though, its a couple of grand to replace all of the above. Do you have any pictures of the areas of concern you could share?

We bought ours in a little better shape than that. We drove it 800 miles home but it had only set for a year. Even at that we've invested a couple of thousand in have to items. These motorhomes are a commitment in time and money but it is worth it! Just so you know though once you get the bug the upgrades never stop

FYI there is a Classic sub-forum, which is quite active with very knowledgeable folks:

Not sure if they will notice your post, with its general topic headline, here in the broader master MH forum.

Good luck,
