Camping World's Airstream MH makeover
Hello all!
The February issue of RV View has some very interesting Airstream info.
The cover story is on a 37ft Airstream Motorhome that was redone inside by Camping World in Nashvillle. Amazing job!
Here is a link for more information: http://www.campingworld.com/makeover
Note: The RV View Magazine has a complete list of the items (with part #'s)
that were used.

Irony at it's best!
That is pretty ironic, considering the usual result from Camping World when you ask for parts for an Airstream and the fact they usually don't want to work on them.
But it was a nice job on the remodel.

That has also been my experience. They tend to place their hands over their ears, and chant "Take it to the dealer!" repeatedly while running into the stock room to hide.

Camping World's Airstream Motorhome Makeover
As the owner of a 370 Airstream motorhome, I can say that Camping World certainly picked a unique vehicle to make over. Most of what they did looks good, but the ceiling in the the bedroom made me look twice. I can't believe anyone would take a perfectly useful and attractive ceiling and turn it into some kind of scenic (?) mural. What a sight to look at first thing in the morning-or last thing at night! Some things don't need to be made over, just routinely maintained and replaced when they wear out. The ceiling in my 370 looks so much better than what they did, and it's all original. In fact, the whole interior is original, and it looks at least as good as the makeover.
I guess beauty may well be in the eye of the beholder.

The article doesn't state the cost of the make over. If I recall, didn't they have a contest for a $20K make-over last year that included some photos of this motorhome?

Yes, they did. The lead-in for the contest was the makeover of the Airstream. The article originially appeared in the February 2005 "RV View", a publication Camping World sends to members of their President's Club. It led to the awarding of makeover for a couple who take in children and use their old motorhome to give them the outdoors experiences. As I recall, the winning family had a 70's model sob, and appeared to be very deserving of the award. My only complaints with the original article were that they did not tell a cost (pricey, from the photos), and the "made over" bedroom ceiling had blue sky and white clouds painted on the ceiling all the way down to the back drapes. My original setup sure looks a lot less "hideous" (according to my wife). Really not trying to be picky about this. I was thrilled to see the motorhome on the front cover of the mag, but the "before" and "after" pics in the bedroom left me wishing for the "before". I still think the original bedroom is light years ahead of the makeover.

I agree the mural is DEFINATELY the weakest feature of the makeover...YUCK!
The rest looks nice IMO...nothing too different than alot of the restorations found here on the forum! Not sure the restoration would be worth it to me for $20,000 though ~
