does supporting member status expire?

hey mods and supporting members...

does supporting member status expire?

-i'm getting a message that my mail box is over FULL (300+) i thought the limit was 500...

-also i see the golden rivet is gone and the supporting member label...

has vanished!

since i was one of the first to donate (#2 i think) does this mean it is required yearly?

is this is forum policy, it might be useful to notify folks IN ADVANCE...

at least then we could clean on the 'in box'

i suppose this is an automation in the software but still....

gee whiz

cheers
2air'

on edit, i just tried to 'delete' this thread and move in a better subheading than 'off topic' but the delete option is gone too????

I'll take care of location -- probably 'Forum How-To's & Support.'

Expire? This hasn't really been discussed AFAIK. I donated 3 years ago and again 2 years ago when specific equipment needs were reluctantly raised by Andy R. The current system hasn't been in place long enough to be discussed. I have a need to get ahead of the curve on a number of issues and will make sure word gets out.

'Supporting member' & golden rivet -- I've noticed some strange forums appearance in the last 15 minutes. Wonder if the server cache is overloading. Will revisit within a day.

I can't access your PM account -- We'll work on this. When I open my private messages for instance, it says, "Inbox contains xxx messages. You have xxx messages stored, of a total xxxx allowed." Please delete enough messages to PM me your numbers in your inbox, sent & total categories -- I'll ask an administrator.

You have reached your stored private message quota and can not send any further messages until space has been created.

this is the message received when the total was 378, 1/2 in 1/2 out.

just deleted down to 259 and i'm still getting this message when i pm you...

odd things happening?

also as i noted the gold rivet and supporting member is gone too....

and my rabbit head shrunk!

thanks

Yes it does...but I don't think that is the problem.

AIR Stickers & Enhanced Accounts!

I know some "Spring Cleaning" is being done in the threads...and also on the server. Don't worry...threads/posts are not being thrown away! Things will get back to "normal" soon...I know Andy & his folks are trying to make this as painless as possible...but some odd things have been going on globally, it's not just you. Patience is in order...

well again IF it does expire

sending a notice in advance would be useful....

and NOT freezing the pm box.

most of us are not going to be checking the 'due date' for a voluntary contribution

it feels like i've missed an utility payment,

and the heat was turned off

not cool!

2air'

hey that's funny big ed...

Is there a place to check our expiration date? It's really rather sad to just lose it all one day. If you were first than others will be following shortly. One by one our shiny rivets will fade and disappear. Our heads will grow smaller and we will not be able to retain as much information. Its like the end of an era. (a yeara?)

For now, until we get it straightened out, you can enable email messages (make sure the email you have still works) so you can still talk to your forums friends. You can turn off the email thing after the dust settles and your PM's come back. This way you (or anyone else this happens to till we get it taken care of) won't have to delete PM's.
We should hear back from the forums head shrinkers shortly.

For now, and if this happens to anyone else, and they don't want to lose their PM's until it get straightened out, you can get a more or less anonymous (and free) email account from somewhere like Yahoo for your email messages from the forums. When it gets straightened out, you can turn off the email option again, and let the email account lapse from nonuse. This way you won't have to tell the world what your real email is, and still be in touch with the forums.

Hi Carol,
I found mine in the User CP section, then go to the part that says account upgrade on the bottom left column under Miscellaneous, click on the account upgrade, then at the top of the page where the active thread subscriptions appear your forum stickers and account upgrade date shows.

2air' -- If you're reading not logged in, the early answer is yes, at one year you will have to contribute again. We're looking at the notification issues. Follow tin sista's post to verify your (ulp!) non-status.

The software is a double edged sword. To test things I just made a contribution. It made the switch to supporting member very quickly -- and erased my mod status. Only cost me 45 minutes. And I'm still not seeing the animated .gif avatar... ??

Glad you can still say ....
cheers

hi bob and terry

i deleted 200+ pms so i'm now under the limit (200?)...

as i read the donation page it suggests personal storage is doubled.

i don't use this upload space, i don't think.

isn't that the personal photo album?

however IF one does has photos/data in the upload space AND

their 'sm' status expires will those photos be lost too?

my conclusion is that IF your s.m. acct is turned off this space would disappear also?

lastly 'stealth mode' is gone. this isn't listed as a 'money' feature...but it is gone now too...

ALL of these acct changes and automations, should be tested beforehand.

i remember very clearly clicking on the 'contribution link' last year and sending money....

only to have my url placed on an official forum "blocked" list.

this took 4-5 days to correct during which i was told my computer was broke, or my internet service provider was at fault.

finally the problem was determined to be RIGHT HERE....

cheers

2air' -- Yes, this morning I had to delete a lot of PMs to let an admin know of my plight. Was too bloated anyway. My PMs over the limit were not deleted.

Yes, invisible mode wasn't part of the bargain -- not resolved at this point.

You were blocked for 5 days? Which kept you from logging on? Strange... Any mod can remove that. I'll PM you my personal email if you're shut out again.

Oolong is too shrunken -- can't tell when his eyes are following me anymore. So make your pledge and rig for silent running ...

Another work-around for the PM issue. You can (in theory) download them into a file on your PC. I can't test this at the moment, but I'll try later today.

Smile The Pay-Pay is in the Ether (the checks in the mail)

Karma to 2air and tin sista for bringing this up. Just checked the CP and found I was up in 2 days.
Good thing I padded the Pay-Pal last week, knew I would need it for something. It's well worth a couple of bucks to keep the info coming and community strong.

Tom.

How about some rivet stickers to indicate years on the Forum? If I remember right this was dropped while settling on the Air sticker design.

Whew!

Glad I found this thread! I was about to lose face and my Gold Rivet since my donation status was going to lapse on 3-1-07. Sent my paypal donation just in the nick of time! So.... As asked above do we get some type of new Air stickers or maybe a Golden rivet decal to show another year of support? Ed
