Another Airstream Conversion Horror!!!

This poor little Tradewind has been "converted" into a fifth wheel. LOL, how can people do this to an Airstream?

I don't know why Airstream Marketing did not think of that.

The Argosy 5th wheels were just like the "Squarestream" 5th wheels, only beige.

This same guy has listed this same 5th wheel several times over the last couple of years. He seems to think he really has something valuable there...

Looks like a cutting torch could unmodify that coach without too much trouble. Is that a piece of an old bridge welded on to the front? Not very elegant.

Brad, FC & Terry -- there was also the ultra SOB 5th wheel -- the Airstream Integrity of '96 & '97. I didn't see any aluminum on this behemoth a few weeks back.

I think thats a trerrible thing to do to an AS . I think the one on eBay was modified to be pulled by either a single axle or screw(tandem) Road Tractor. The pic sent by JUMP is modified as a GOOSENECK and can be pulled by a pickup.

Now you guys just aren't putting your "Innovative Thinking Caps" on...

I looked at the photo more closely and came up with some additional remodeling:

1) Lay a child's pool slide across the top of those storage boxes, pointing it from truck to trailer. Remove front trailer window and screen. Attach wide flashing to window to create air scoop. Now, while traveling, is the dog yapping and driving you nuts? Toss him out the back cab window of truck and into the trailer he goes! Kids won't stop beating the crap out of each other? Whoosh, whoosh, out they fly! Your spouse continues to elaborate on why we never should have gone this way? Jerk, scuffle, boom! Ah, the peace and quiet of the open road....

Oh, and if one of them attempts to climb forward back in? Accelerate...

Carol

Carol,

Now I am beginning to be worried about myself ... that is hilarious I have always tried to think outside of the box. I am humbled in your presence ...

Where's the hidden treasure as described in the listing? The only thing that needs to be hidden is this mess!

I don't know where I get these from, I just look at something and strange ideas pop into my mind. And that one was after just two cups of coffee...

The dang things bombard me after a glass or two of wine!

Well you know the concept could have been pretty cool if they'd actually gotten some 2024 Alclad and made a 5th wheel front end for the trailer. You know, drill out the rivets from the end cap, remove the end cap, then extend the front of the trailer up and over and put a radiused front end cap (better yet reuse the original one for the elevated 5th wheel bedroom) on it. But to just cut off the frame and put a gooseneck/5er frame on it....that's pretty lame.

Avion built a few silver 5ers that were just a 34 footer with a modified frame and extended up and over front end with the elevated bedroom. They were actually pretty cool. Long devils too....like 38' or something overall.

But this thing...man it's cheesy!

take care,
