When things turn weird…The weird turn pro

Quote from the late great Hunter S. Thompson
I know that I often say enough to show my ignorance about Airstreams. And I tend to jump into things&projects without really doing much research. So now I got myself knee deep into a full blown remodel of my 72/31’ International.
Today I finished ripping out all the walls, cabinets, twin beds, stove, oven, refrigerator, water pump, and all the old copper water lines. “Fun, Fun, Fun till your daddy takes the T-Bird away”!
I didn’t really intend to gut the “Old Girl,” but once I started ripping things out, I would discover something else that was in need of repair. Like the plastic wheel wells that are falling apart like a late model Hugo, and the leaky fresh water pump, or the refrigerator that gets cold for 10 hours or so, then warms up. There is nothing like ownership of a vintage Airstream. Attachment 2291

I cut the old copper water lines back to where they come out from under the bath tub. I was hoping that I could patch the lines from there forward. NOT….I get to JW WOODS pumping supply and discovered the lines had been frozen so many times over the years that they were expanded to the point that a ½” fitting was now to small to slip over the pipe….
Time to call P. Bob to run new water lines from the hot water tank forward, can you say “Pex Line”.
Tomorrow I will TSP the walls, vacuum out all the 38 year old dust bunnies, pull all the staples out of the plywood, call P. Bob and see how much whiskey (JD) it will take to get him to redo the plumbing. Pickup the new FM 2820 refrig, and drink a beer or two in the PM… news at 11:00. Have a good weekend all!
