1973 Airstream door lock broke can’t get inside to replace

Posted 04-27-2018 at 11:00 AM by Airdreamz

Hi,

The lock pin appears to have sheared off my lock. Key spins with no resistance, door doesn’t unlock. Unfortunately it’s locked and I can’t get inside to take the assemble apart.

If anyone can answer the following it would be much appreciated:

Can I drill out the lock or will that just wreck more lock parts and still not get me in?

I tried to unscrew the hinge, realized bolted from inside so no luck, can’t take the pins out as it’s...

Hi. I did check the manual. I don't think I have any photos/diagrams of where all these things are. I'll keep looking.

In June of 2017 we finished the shell off restoration of the 1966 Tradewind. We learned a lot and the Airforums were very helpful to discern what we wanted to do. We did a few interesting things. We installed a Dometic Cool Cat heat pump under one of the twin beds and ducted it through the frame. I always take one last walk around the rig as soon as I get to a place where there is room. Check all doors and lock again, take another look at the hitch again, look under the rig again. So far I have never had a problem but triple checking isn’t going to hurt especially when

I'm partial to rescued Bloodhounds - but go with whatever you can snag at a shelter. You won't be sorry.

Here's Daisy snuggling with her Lambchop....she loves her silver dog house!
