Question Fresh water tank fill/city water connection

All,

My fresh water tank is filling when I'm hooked up to city water. I'm not connected on the fresh water tank fill port, but on the shore water port. I'm hooked up to campground water and just found water trickling out of the fresh water fill port. The pump is off. Is this supposed to happen or am i doing something wrong? (i am a rookie) Not crazy about having to drain off fresh water tank every time I hit the road.

Many thanks for any insights.

Sounds like the fresh water CHECK VALVE is leaking. A check valve is a device that allows water flow in one direction. They are notorious for leaking. Located in close proximity to your fresh water pump.

You might try turning off shore water, running water until pressure is released. Then run the fresh water pump to move some water out of the tank and flush out the valve a bit. Then turn the shore water back on and see what you get. It is a "likely no luck" kind of thing, but might reset the valve.

Replacement is a good thing if the problem persists.

Good luck. Pat

Edit: 2018 - make this a dealer problem at your earliest opportunity. Waranty is a good thing to use. Opportunity to ask lots of questions.

Pat--thanks for this. I did as you suggested and completely emptied the fresh water tank. Have turned shore water back on and so far, all is well. I have a service appt at the mothership later this week and will ask them about it too. In a somewhat related note, my pump seems really loud when it is running. I'm not sure what normal is, but am going to ask about that too.

Thanks again for the quick response. Fingers crossed the valve is ok for now.

Laurie

Did you get an update on this? I seem to be having the same issue. Turned city water off and now my pump seems really loud. Haven’t turned the city water back on, will end up draining the fresh tank first via pump and then will turn city water back on to see if the fresh tank still fills.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
