RIP International Signature

On June 15, Airstream's "Fresh Air" website announced that the will be ending the International Signature.

Specifically, they wrote: "The International Signature has been part of our family for years, and that family has continued to grow. With that growth comes the official sunsetting of the Signature this year. And while we won’t produce new Signatures in the future, we’re continuing to create and enhance the International Serenity."

I wasn't sure what "sunsetting of the Signature this year" meant; are they done making them? will there be a 2020 model? Last week the "Travel Trailers" portion of the Airstream website still listed the International Signature, but it is now gone from the website.

I checked the inventory at Colonial Airstream (who is the number 1 Airstream sales location) and they have 28 2019 and 7 2020 Serenity models in stock but only 7 2019 Signatures.

From all of this, I am assuming that there are no more Signatures rolling out of Jackson Center and that once the existing inventory on dealers lots is gone, the Signature will be a thing of the past.

I own a 2018 Signature and like its modern look much better than the Serenity. I would say, however, that the Globetrotter has taken the "modern" mantle over and maybe that redundancy helped make the decision to end the Signature.

I hope that Airstream phases out the "serenity" name and simply calls it the International.

The International Signature will be missed (at least by me).

Hi

What it typically means is that there will be no International Signature in 2020. Unless you already have one on order or can find a 2019 still on a lot, you will no longer be able to get one new.

In terms of what the 2020 "International" will look like .... right now the pictures on the AS web site (if any are there) are probably your best reference.

Congratulations! My wife and I make the CB (cozy bed) work just fine. Plenty of opportunities for snuggling!

I’m glad to have bought one from the final class. The new Globetrotters look sleek and cool, but the Signature feels like home to me. Christopher Deam was an incredible designer.

Hi, dropping the "Signature" will devalue existing models by $20,000.00 instantly.

That's what I'm hoping. Though I plan to keep my '12 Signature going until I stop camping. Love my solar, but it also means I'm too heavily invested to make a change casually.

Hi, I don't think so, and it never entered my mind. My wife and I have made an informal agreement to keep all of our vehicles for approximately ten years and / or 100,000 miles; At this point depreciation means nothing to us. As for our lovely Safari, I have mentioned before that we are extremely happy with our decision to buy this trailer and have no future plans to move up, down, or sideways. This is our one and only trailer unless something very unfortunate happens to it.

Hi

I think the real answer is that there are so many different models that it really does not make a difference if a badge is (temporarily) retired. If a major feature (like slides or triple axles) goes away, indeed you now have a rare item.

Hey, Bob - I kind of knew that. But I admit, as an old fart, I tend not to see emojis. Pathetic, eh?

Pat

And your Safari is a sweet looking rig!
