We have the Fantastic shroud over the Fantastic fan on the Classic. The two white 7000K Maxxfans on the 23D seem to let in the same amount of light.
We did put the frosted white Maxim skylight in the 23D and over the bathroom in the Classic. That model amplifies the the light while reducing heat gain/loss. The front Maxim in the Classic has the bonze lense. It is light an airy inside both units.
I like the simpler control panel of the Maxxfan as does my wife. The remote is nice as well.

I'm in my 2015 now. Honestly, the knob/handle can be turned but you can't pull down on it, just turn it and the motor I guess. The fan direction does not seem reversible.
My quick start is thermostat to cold, speed at 1, fan to on and flip the open/close thing. If that doesn't work, try again. Shheesh.
Then, play with the buttons. To stop it from opening all the way, turn fan speed to 0 along the way.

DoublTrouble. When I was having some issues and questions about FF I called them and found them to be extremely helpful. Give them a call.

From the picture you have an automatic opening FF. There is a small black switch when pushed begins opening the fan hood and turns on the fan "if" you have the thermostat turned down to the cool side. Pulling down on the knob disengages the motor from the hood. Rotating the knob while disengaged lowers or opens the vent hood. Select fan speeds 1,2,3....0 stops fan. Neat feature vent hood closes automatically if rained on. Will open again when dry. Good luck hope this helps

The newer Fantastic fans built by the new Fantastic fan business owner have removed the free wheeling "clutch" of pulling the knob down to save a few pennies on each unit. That was apparent in the 2015 models. Our 2014 Classic (built in January 2014) had the "clutch" and the 2015 23D International Serenity built in September 2014 lacked the "clutch".
We solved the issues in both of our trailers we had with the ugly rain shroud of the Fantastic Fan on the Classic and "clutch" issues in the 2015 model by replacing them with the MaxxFan 7000K fans that have a low profile when the lid is closed, ten fans pads and reversible along with temperature seeing operation all controlled with a remote. That process also got rid of the potential water leaks that would be caused by the cracks in the Fantastic fan mounting plates caused by over tightened fasteners at the factory.

But does anyone know what that little red light in the fan does?

So, we have a 2015 FC23FB. Power switch turns the fan on and off. Dial gets you some temp control, but ramp it open to keep the fans running. The lid raise button fails to open the lid if rain or dew shuts it down. That may be part of your problem. We use the manual knob to raise the lid if the electric switch is not responding.
Now, it took a few trips to decide get the Fantastic Fan hoods installed. They should be standard OEM. Shame on you AS. My brothers SOB has them. Either install the hoods or upgrade to the Maxfan that Switz is raving about.
The 23 does not have a two direction fan switch on the 15. You can install the one that Fantastic Fan used until AS value engineered the OEM units and changed to an exhaust only switch. It's on my todo list. If you do not have a window or door open, one vent must be shut down to provide makeup air for the coach. Guess what happens if it is raining.
So, you have our condolences. Sweety learned how to operate them this year, but it took some parctice. At least you have an AS smile to offset the fan deal.
Now that heat/AC control is something else. I really believe the little wee people have cast a spell on these electronic wonders to get even for us not leaving an adult beverage under the coach for them. Pat

Last time Sweety asked, I told her it shows the power is on. Pat
