Withdrawal OMG

After heading north for a few months to visit family and do some repairs to my Excella, I found myself going out to the rig tonight, starting the furnace to take the chill off and just sitting on the couch for 15 minutes. Then it hit me, I was having withdrawal symptoms, I felt more relaxed and at home and relished the peacefull oak interior GAHHHH. Guess I'm a full timer at heart. Hopefully striking out December 1st for Florida again once my ticker gets straightened out.

hi i also like to sit and 'contemplate' in the a/s. i think of the many trips and people we have met what fun. we had to cancel a caravan because my hubby tore his shoulder. soooo i take a little time out hope we can be joining the next caravan in 2013.
we had the inside refurbished and it is so nice i enjoy seeing the $$$ we spent. no carpet no sofa no awkward cabinets. i guess i can enjoy the a/s without going anywhere. aren't a/s the best?????

I'm 1,200 miles from home, without the Airstream. This is the first trip in over 7 years without an Airstream. I miss the convenience of having a bed, kitchen, and man cave following behind.

We know just how you feel. Get that kinda happy, giddy feeling when we head out in the Interstate after a hiatus for whatever reason.

We've got it bad. We're in the middle of a full gut and remodel on an Ambassador. After I got the first and only piece of plywood subfloor in, my wife and I spent the first night daydreaming in camping chairs in the front of our "new" airstream. Once there was enough floor for everyone to have space, we drug it a couple miles to our local park and spent the nights just to be able to camp. We haven't slowed down yet, no running water and no kitchen yet, but every time we can we go camping, kind of like living through a remodel.

I wouldn't really worry yet. When you pull out the chairs and the pink flamingos and build a campfire in your driveway you might think about seeking professional help.

Yes it is my favorite place as well. When life gets to hectic I head to the Airstream, fire up the stove, put the coffee on and all seems right with the world.

oh wow, we're not alone! I drag the Globie down home from the storage yard to work on it for the weekend, and we usually sit inside, heat on, and have a cocktail and listen to music.. sitting in the driveway.

I was thinking of starting a post to see who else obsesses about their trailer. We tend to anthropomorphize stuff, and the trailer is no exception. It seems happier when it gets a wash and some new accessories, lust like the car the car does.

Whenever our trailer is in the driveway, because I'm doing something to it, instead of being in storage behind our warehouse (4 miles away), I'll find myself finding reasons to go out to it. Maybe I'm getting something we keep in the trailer, or taking laundry back out to put away, but I'll find myself turning on the radio and just lying on the bed for a while. It's just such a comfortable place with lots of good memories. We're going to use it one more time - next weekend - with a trip to Madison WI. Then, I'll have to winterize it and put it away for 4-5 months. Those are the long months.

My cousin and I are both architects, and had a conversation about Airstreams, about the idea of an "escape pod". I love ours for that- when we arrived for the rally at Jackson Rancheria, a hugely stressful week just melted away, kicking back in the Globetrotter with some music, wine, other rally goers coming and going.

Happy pill

We are fortunate to be able to keep "Bonnie" in a barn, right here at the house, plugged in all the time. "Clyde" pays her regular visits too, every couple of weeks.

After a long day at work I look forward to a visit with her. Just stepping inside is like taking a happy pill, washed down with a little sip of single malt.

Yep, I know that feeling. Our 34 has the drapes that start at the frig wall, wrap all the way around to the door. Same way in the bedroom, wall to wall.

When we're all snugged up in there it's womb like, as if she's got her arms wrapped around us. 'Course some have said it looks like the inside of a casket!!

Hmmm a casket...
Have not thought of that. I wonder if when the time comes I can get a hole 34 feet long and 17 feet deep dug?

It would take a heck of a hole. I'd be buried in mine but I want my kids to have it!!

I love my '72 Trade Wind...love just sitting and looking at it and dreaming of what I am going to do. In the middle of a shell-off overhaul right now, and the fact that winter in Minnesota is going to be long with not much work accomplished, I have a lot of time to dream right now. But I have been musing that I should set it up....so when that day comes that I leave this world...one press of a button, and it will make an awesome crematorium. LOL

I agree with the "refuge" feeling everyone seems to get. But this AS "love" I think comes from the smooth curves and radius's everywhere.
Looked at Arctic Foxes today on line and the straight lines and "hardness" of outline gave me a head ache and crossed eyes!!
One thing is certain, I can compose music in Tinbad where it's hard anywhere else.....that cocoon feeling of solitude.
Headed to my TT now from Seattle, be there in 10min. honey;-)
