Sleep Number

Hello there,
Has anyone ever tried to install or use a Sleep Number mattress in an Airstream?

I have Sleep Number C2 extended twins in our Classic 30. We have Sleep Number P5 kings in two home bedrooms. We added 2" of foam on top of the C2s and they sleep as well as our P5s which we love.

They are about an inch too wide, so are slightly crushed at the nightstand and I had to cut plywood to support the edges of the bed between the nightstand and the foot. It narrows the floor area a few inches but the additional comfort over the matresses (upgraded by the previous owner) is worth the compromise.

The control units fit in the unused space between the rear of the underbed storage compartments and the back walls.

I'd do it again. If you are interested, they have a sale on right now but I didn't see the C2s on sale. When I bought mine they were $499 each, almost half off. Let me recommend you and we both get a discount.

I think you can buy the RV queen from them direct if that is what you need.

Yes, we have the RV Queen and love it. Made a huge difference for us, in addition to have two independent sides for adjustment.

We also installed a Sleep Number RV Queen Radius Corner model in our Airstream. Specially designed model for RV's, with the shorter RV queen length and radius lower corners to fit our Airstream platform nicely.

Can't beat it, each side adjustable with wireless remote control(s). The air pump runs on AC. Available at Camping World at a good price when on periodic sale.

We also have a sleep number at home and in our AS. We purchased the short Queen with the radius corners. Controls on each side and plugged into 120 outlet. Not a big deal. Very comfortable. We also purchased at CW when on sale and registered it with Sleep Number.

I've got a Queen C-2 that I sleep on at home and was wondering how it would fit in an AS Queen hole...I guess its too much to ask to get my adjustable base in there too

Try as I may I couldn't get the adjustable bases in the door.

You can check on line and find the dimensions of your RV queen and compare them with the dimensions of your Sleep Number Queen. The RV bed is probably several inches shorter and maybe narrower and have a curved corner, depending on trailer layout. Folks with east-west queens have extended the foot of their bed base to put a full queen in.

I really like the east west queen sleep number in my Moho.

I've ended up using a softer setting than I'd thought I would. One of the advantages of the adjustability is being able to try it at different settings.

Another issue is the need to adjust the pressure with changes of altitude.
Need to let air out before going to higher elevation, or it will end up very hard or popped.

I have had to fire up my generator at times I wouldn't have wanted to, to get it pumped back up for the night.

Still very comfortable!

A couple of points.

The Sleep Number RV queen is the same size as the Airstream plywood queen platform.

I've heard the story about altitude changes and there may be some. We may have noticed a very little in ours traveling from sea level to 8,000 feet this spring. Have never reset it for altitude, but would use the Airstream's inverter for the pump if we did.
