Hello There and Question Please

We aren't new to camping but are new to this forum and to Airstream (started with a tent, then pop-up, then 5th wheel and finally a 2015 28 ft Flying Cloud). This is a life long dream of ours and we knew that this upgrade would mean we would need to downsize and organize the massive "stuff" that we used to haul around in the 5th wheel. My question involves resources or sources for maximizing cabinet storage for dishes and pots and pans, etc. Since the cabinets have a unique shape to them, my previous system(s) will not work. Is there a website for storage solutions intended for airstreams or suggestions for us, please?

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Welcome to the Forums. We're glad to have you with us.

The is no website that I am aware of that addresses your questions. There is lots of information here on Airforums that discusses these issues.

The best way to search Airforums threads is to Google "airforums and your area of interest".

The 28' FC has lots of storage. As Brian pointed out use Google and search the forum here. The search feature here has the google option available. Use it because the other search engine is inferior.

One downside of the 28 is its tongue weight so be cautious of loading heavy stuff under the couch or overhead in the front. If you are not careful, you will drive the tongue weight into really heavy territory. You can put heavy stuff in the rear under the bed, in the closets and in the overhead. This will help balance the load and avoid increasing an already heavy tongue weight.

Good luck on developing your own personal system.

Welcome to the forum,

a few tips

Yeah…overhead storage space is one of drawbacks of Airstreams.

I store only light items in the overhead cabinets.
To keep the cabinets from getting loose
To keep the center of gravity low
Clothes conform to the odd shape

Some use square plates

There's an ongoing thread here by Lily & Me called Small Space Living. Lots of good ideas pop up there. If you go back and read the entire thread, you'll find lots of suggestions.

Welcome to the forums.

We learned to live without some of the stuff we were hauling around in our bigger previous trailer. We jettisoned a lot of cargo. Turns out, we were hauling all that junk around because we could. I haven't missed any of the stuff we don't have any more. A lot of it was in case someone else needed a whatever.

We have a cap for our pick-up truck. It's amazing how much we store in there.

Thank you for the responses. I started organizing this morning and I was surprised how much space there really is available. I will follow up on the suggestions, much appreciated!
