When do we see 2013s?

So when do we see exactly what Airstream has in mind for the 2013 model year? I understand that that our little Serenity will no longer be available in a 16" model and that there will be a simplification of the floor plans vis-a-vis models and sizes but what else? Having just purchased what I believe is one of the last of the of the 16' "non Sport" models I am curious as to where this is all going...

July 1 is generally when new model production is begun, unless Airstream wants to jump the gun on the model year again. Whether they will release any pre-production info will be entirely up to them.

Well then,
I will just have to wait and see what happens! I did notice that Airstream is showing a new "concept" design on their website. Airstream, Inc :: Photos & Decor
I guess that this will be the new International series. I kind of like it.

Do NOT want. The white upholstery would be grey/brown within weeks and the green floor is, frankly, hideous. I don't object to the stainless-look cabinets (are they metal or wood?) but I like that the natural looking wood/aluminum contrast of the other trailers.

Oh, and I know that some folks will love this interior, aesthetics are totally subjective

34's

I am anxious to see if they will produce a few 34'ers this year. Might be time for an upgrade...

The Airstream Model Year starts in mid May so about another 6 weeks. Usually Colonial posts a thread listing the changes.

This timing, I believe, is correct. My 2007 was built in May of 2006.

Funny,
I love wood, at least real wood but I'm not wild about the "cabin in the woods" thing. Our last sailboat had bright varnished mahogany trim on white bulkheads and it was just beautiful.

Subjective is fine! We like what we have....

Since we are shopping right now, I have been told that "if" the Sterling is added it will replace the Signature not the Serenity. The Serenity is selling very well for AS. All orders as of 3 weeks ago are the 2013 models at about a 2% increase. Minor upgrades on the Serenity. I didn't ask about other models. If anyone has more info, I would love to hear!

Anna,
When I began the process of looking at available Airstream models I felt that the Signature was the one I'd want. Then we began looking at the various trailers and what happened was that I fell in love with the light open feeling of the Serenity. I had written it off when I looked at it online....
Even when we found our little 16' Serenity I was hesitant (for about 2 minutes!) then I looked at another Signature and I was done.
It will be interesting to see how the designs age. Will they be like the colors of the 70's (Avocado anyone?) or will they have a contemporary feel in 15 or 20 years?

I was looking for just the adjective for that gold/green "accent color" - hideous isn't quite bad enough.

Why don't we just call it "booger green" to really convey just how nauseating it is. It could be much more tolerable with darker blue accents.... or really anything other than that corroded brass color.

It does carry the "industrial" look just a bit too far - sterile, with less warmth than the average WWII submarine.

Except for the carpet color I love it. But the one thing that I don't like about the floorplan is the long couch on one side. I'd much rather replace it with a desk and/or a swiveling chair. The way the unit is set up there's no way to watch the TV without turning sideways.

Here is the email I recieved. I also contacted AS directly to find out anymore, but, didn't get anywhere. I'm expecting to recieve a list and if I do, I'll post it with the changes.

Bruce B, We feel the same as you. The Serenity is what we want. I too like the light interior~makes it feel more spacious than the Signature.

"Our sales rep got back to us today. We ARE expecting a price increase. He said we could price protect your quote until the 15th if the order is placed before that time. It will be a 2013 model. He is expecting the increase to be about 2% again.

He says there are very few changes for the model year. Some are already being implemented. The pillow top mattress, a hookup at the propane tank to attach a hose to a bar b que, and a different table leg that's a little stronger under the dinette. He said they don't have a list yet, but may be some minor trim change. The ovens changed to Atwood brands recently, as Whirlpool will no longer be building the current oven."
