Hello from NH

Hi all. Like many of the other posts on this thread, I'm new to Airstreamforums. However, I've also been lurking as a guest since last fall!

I've got to say, this site has been very useful to our search for an Airstream. From the towing information to the tracking of issues it has been a great asset! Plus everyone here sounds fun & friendly!

Recently we've settled on what we want. The end of this week I'll be picking up our Safari 25 six sleeper!!!! With everything I've learned here I really gave our sales guy a workout! I suggested he spend some time reading through all the great posts everyone provides here. Thanks for helping my wife and I ask the right questions, find what would work for us, and get really excited about becoming an Airstream owner!

Sorry for making you groan. We too have been looking, thinking, re-looking, thinking more, and finally reading this forum.

Another Bay Area Convert..

Airstreamhopeful..

We pulled a 23' Nomad Weekender behind Bronco and Suburban for 14 years until children too old and cool to be seen in camper with parents.. Looked for two years, and found '88 25' Excella near Dallas TX for less than $13K, in great condition. Weighs about 5,700 pounds, and pulls pretty easily behind 1500 Suburban with 200hp V-8 (5.7L).

23 to 27 foot units are hard to find, as they are most towable and have plenty of room for two. 31 to 34's are roomy, but require meaningful tow vehicle rated for 5 tons or more... Smaller Bambi's and 20 footers are pretty compact for more than a weekend. I'm sort of football-sized, at over 6'2', and only miss dinette arrangement in ours. Otherwise great, though we're now undoing all the mauve and pink and ivory flowered curtains and upholstery and carpeting to meet wife's standards...

Two helpful suggestions: Try airstream.net site of Vintage Airstream Club and their classifieds. We found ours there, and they list over 100 trailers for sale, arranged and sorted by generation... Second, consider drive to Toscano's RV in Los Banos, as they have 5 to 12 used units in stock at any time. There's a gorgeous 27' Excella from ~ 1989 with white leather couch, hardwood flooring and other goodies, plus qutoe a few others in range from 19' to 34'.. Hard to get good feeling over phone, as they are pretty distinctively individual... Store is on Hwy 152 5 miles EAST of I-5...

Finally, we joined WBCCI, though we haven't attended rally's yet, and will be doing our own cross-country adventure in July and August rather than big event in Lansing over July 4th.. Hopefully, some local events either for Vintage Airstream Club or WBCCI units (Santa Clara, Monterey or others) would be another way to meet up with owners.. The majority of rally's and caravans are really structured for retired folks (our opinion..) as they run from 2 to 5 weeks, and that works poorly for the financially insecure.. Weekend runs to Russian River, Santa Cruz mountains, Delta etc are a better alternative..

Thanks, we'll stop in Los Banos, any excuse for a vacation...do you have to have an AS to be a member of the WBCCI? We're headed to the one in Calistoga in May. Financially insecure, that's us!! Tax return coming though!!

Talking It is here!

Hi all. Well, after quite the interesting first ride I'm happy to say our AS is here! Thanks for helping this "lurker" learn a lot about the Airstream line, and really helping me decided on what we would like. This forum is GREAT!

I am a lurker no more!

Come On In From The Clod!

I like to throw out the invitation again to all those "guests" I met this summer to "come on in from the cold", sign-up and become a member.

I was amazed at how many nice AS owners I met this summer that loved the Forum but were not members. That's what makes this place great- the Members and the more we have the better it will be.

Another lurker makes the plunge

I'm also a newbie. We have our new 19' Bambi on order. It should be here in a couple of weeks. Your forum is wonderful! It has been a blessing and its also been extremely painful this past 7 weeks while I've been waiting on the new baby to arrive! I've learned so much (never pulled a trailer and have not been camping in my adult life). I hope it's as easy as you all say it is!

Welcome Melissa!

You have come to the right place. No question is to dumb and you'll find more answers than you will know what to do with.

The wait for a new "baby" can be very hard indeed. But it makes getting the trailer that much sweeter. Hang in there.

When you get your new AS, post some pics. Everyone loves to see a new baby. Again, welcome to the Forums!
