Very true article.

Not a surprise though as the younger ones get older and realize that their parents were right about missing the family vacations in the RV.

Also as no surprise as the oldest of the RV crowd go to that big RV in the sky, the average age will continue to spiral down.

For us we are 30 somethings and with interest rates being through the floor, it was a pretty big no brainer as to when to get back into it. Additionally, it also helps that you can write off a good portion of the interest as a home mortgage. Can't do that with a car!

I'm sure in the years ahead, it will be back up as we younger folks ripen and then go back down again and round and round as the never ending cycle of life continues.

If I were to jump solar systems or the cosmos today, I would jump a happy man having done less than some and more than most at my age. Camping in an Airstream being one of those things!

I think a lot of these studies must only focus on new RVs. I know a lot of thirty-somethings that have RVs, but they didn't buy them new. It's seen as a practical way to enjoy family vacations on a budget, especially for friends of ours with kids. So to me it's no surprise that younger people use RVs, and I'm talking about people even younger than that boomer generation. It's probably even easier now that everyone seems to own an SUV to pull one with.

Talking Was it that obvious?

I used to be a HUGE Trek Head a few years back. Medication and therapy helped.....so did the '94 Williams Star Trek TNG pinball machine!!!

The Borg rock.....um, I mean, I found really interesting.

The last movie I didn't really care for though.....

I've seen the hula ladies from time to time. If I see them again, I'll pick one up for ya!

I saw them at Camping World in Vallejo, CA. Didn't think enough about them to get one, but now I wish i had. They are pretty cool and if Maverick could use one in his Clint eastwood Space Cowboy movie, then we can in our space age MH's.

What's wrong with the Hula Girls? Look online at Flamingomania (or one of their links). Yes, we got one, still trying to figure out how to mount in the rear window for all to enjoy!

As far as age, my wife and I are on the low end of the Thirtysomethings, I've been doing it my whole life, as a family we bought our first trailer in our mid-twenties.

We got our latest WBCCI newsletter and there are multiple articles regarding the International and how things must change to accomodate the younger members. People are not happy with the current state of affairs. Interesting...

went through the toy isle at Kroger last night with the kids. My oldes handed me a Bobble head doll of RICHARD PETTY!
LOL

Mid 30's here. My folks hauled my sister and me all over the place when I was a kid. Missed it.

My wife never did camping but her dad was a avid hunter. His hunting cabin was a Airstream. It's now ours and we are restoring it for our family for some affordable get aways.

We haven't had a vacation in almost 5 years because if the price of hotels or beach houses. Now we can stay out for close to 4 days for what the Beach house cost for 1 night.

Looking foward to getting out once I have our back up to par. Just took off a week and I plan on working on it for most of that week.

my 14 yr old son said that you are too old to play with dolls so you do not need a poll.
I expained that playing with the Wriggling Hula Girl (doll) is not life threatening.

I grew up tent camping every summer for years with my parents. Two weeks in a four man tent at 3 Ponds Campground WAS vacation for us. We never knew any different.

When we became the parents and moved 1000 miles in any direction from any family member we started renting MH's as a way to travel back east without strangling one of the three kids, or the dog or each other.

While most of our friends thought we were crazy at first (we would cringe whenever they asked us why we were renting a "mobile home"?) now that they have seen how nice our RV rentals have been compared to the shoddy beach cottages they pay through the nose for every summer they have all asked us where they could rent or buy one.

I also happen to make my living in the RV industry and get to talk to many dealers on a daily basis. They are all seeing a huge increase in first time buyers in the 30 - 40 range. The attraction for many, including us, seems to be the same as it has been all along; travel for less, spend quality time together, go wherever and whenever you want and make new friends along the way.

I'm happy to say that if all goes well (and I can acquire a Hula-Girl for the dashboard in time) we'll be joining the ranks of the 30 something RV owners soon. We're scheduled to take delivery on our first Airstream (An 86' 345 MH) next Weds. If everything checks out mechanically we plan to immediately head back east for a week.
