LOL

Mid 30's here. My folks hauled my sister and me all over the place when I was a kid. Missed it.

My wife never did camping but her dad was a avid hunter. His hunting cabin was a Airstream. It's now ours and we are restoring it for our family for some affordable get aways.

We haven't had a vacation in almost 5 years because if the price of hotels or beach houses. Now we can stay out for close to 4 days for what the Beach house cost for 1 night.

Looking foward to getting out once I have our back up to par. Just took off a week and I plan on working on it for most of that week.

my 14 yr old son said that you are too old to play with dolls so you do not need a poll.
I expained that playing with the Wriggling Hula Girl (doll) is not life threatening.

I grew up tent camping every summer for years with my parents. Two weeks in a four man tent at 3 Ponds Campground WAS vacation for us. We never knew any different.

When we became the parents and moved 1000 miles in any direction from any family member we started renting MH's as a way to travel back east without strangling one of the three kids, or the dog or each other.

While most of our friends thought we were crazy at first (we would cringe whenever they asked us why we were renting a "mobile home"?) now that they have seen how nice our RV rentals have been compared to the shoddy beach cottages they pay through the nose for every summer they have all asked us where they could rent or buy one.

I also happen to make my living in the RV industry and get to talk to many dealers on a daily basis. They are all seeing a huge increase in first time buyers in the 30 - 40 range. The attraction for many, including us, seems to be the same as it has been all along; travel for less, spend quality time together, go wherever and whenever you want and make new friends along the way.

I'm happy to say that if all goes well (and I can acquire a Hula-Girl for the dashboard in time) we'll be joining the ranks of the 30 something RV owners soon. We're scheduled to take delivery on our first Airstream (An 86' 345 MH) next Weds. If everything checks out mechanically we plan to immediately head back east for a week.

Crazylev,

I looked at your pic, and noticed an Autobarn sticker as well as a City of Chicago sticker and I said, hey that guy is from around here.....and then I looked to the left and there you were...Chicago....
