I'm thinking a primer in chemistry would be better. I haven't looked at a periodic table since high school and didn't fully understand that stuff then. Thank goodness for Google!

Yeah, I saw the commercial for that this weekend. I already had strong reservations about these Mythbusters wannabes, but this was just plain wrong. More than the Trading Spaces debacle. At least on a par with the video game commercial. Ugh.

Thanks for doing the leg work. I pictured the old GAZ lantern I use to light up in my tent camping days. It had a combination of butane and propane. I thought it might be one, the other or both.

Seen on side of local road
I saw this one, don't know what type or size, it's too much snow to walk through to get close right now, on a farm that has obviously not been occupied in years.
If someone might be able to identify it from the windows/doors, etc, that would be great. I might have to look up some tax records on this property and find out who it belongs to.
Sorry the quality of the pictures is not that great. Cell phone camera.
Thanks for any identifying assistance.

My guess was a 60's Tradewind, but the window configuration is throwing me off. There's no window forward of the door.

Length is right for a GlobeTrotter. Windows reflect at least an optional Globetrotter setup. The "brow" over the door was last used in 1962. Globetrotters were first offered in 1961. Since I can't see the wheel well opening, which differed from 1961 to 1962, I can't narrow it down further. Thus my assessment says it is a 1961 or 1962 19' Globetrotter.

Thanks Cameron (or was it the labs who made the suggestion?) and Joe for the ideas.
That's a nice era I think. Still a Wally era. But I'm betting that there still won't be much of the underneath still underneath it.
As we thaw, I'll get more pictures and perhaps with a real camera instead of the cell phone camera.

Is it spring yet?
http://pages.motors.ebay.com/viewite...omain=ebay.com
Must be. RV's for sale are up. I just spotted this on e-bay, and it's right here in Virginia Beach. I called and talked to "Bill" and it turns out that I actually met him once.
His wife wanted a 5th wheel and what mama wants, she gets. (not a bad plan in my view). This unit looks to be a bit down at the axle but if anyone is interested I'll be glad to give it a closer look.
BTW I spotted a 7 panel Globetrotter in an alley in Virginia Beach. If you're interested I could go knock on the door and ask about it. Looks like it's been sitting forever. RUFF, but didn't see any visible body damage.

Every time I'm on I-80 through WY., I take a loop through Medicine Bow to see if this beautiful Safari is still there. I tracked down the widow who owns it and have tried to buy it from her but she's not selling. She's giving it to her son when she dies. My only option is to see if she will adopt me.

That one does look like a nice one Sheridan. Good luck with the adoption papers. Interesting that the two front side windows are of differing widths. Seems like they would have been equal in size.

Get'n outta N.Y. Winter..
Today 1:20pm. Excella 30?' Heading East on RT178, just south of Hamburg N.Y. black Ford super duty. 1/2 mile from NYS Thruway. Most likely headings towards warmer climes. Did notice worn Wally #2344.
Have a safe journey friend.

Been watching these
North od Dallas, Texas. The motor home has been sitting in the woods for five years that I know of. The others are recent arrivals to the area.

The trailer in the 3rd photo is most likely a '59 to '61 Overlander (or possibly an Ambassador). The one in the bottom photo is an Avion, probably about 1970 to 1974.

Point Reyes sighting
I was out on a bike ride in Inverness/Point Reyes area yesterday, saw a vintage Airstream being pulled by a greenish looking (?) Jeep. I'm not sure about the color or make, through my sunglasses into the sun.
I was stopped at the top of the hill coming back down into Olema/Point Reyes, and waved as you came by, and yelled and gave a big thumbs up, and the driver waved back...was it you?

Okay- I know its not an Airstream...
Its just so unique I had to share- it was e-mailed to me by my mother. The caption read: "I know you are in to strange trailers and all, I thought you might enjoy this."
