Step strut

On the drop down front step it looks like a thin wide bolt and nut that sits flush in the counter sunk portion of the strut. One side has an allen head screw. I have one of those that has sheared off. The nearest dealer to me just closed. Does anyone know the part number on that and/or where it could be ordered from. Hope this gets through ok and I can receive any replies as my computer skills are about on the same level as my repair work skills. Thanks for any help I can get.

There are many descriptions of the step hardware, that is very confusing.

It's better if you pick out the parts or parts you need from an exploded view drawing, that some dealers can send to you.

Repairing double step

We just brought home our 2004 25' Airstream Classic, and the double step will not engage correctly in the front outrigger, causing it to sag under weight. Looks like to repair or look at the bolt that holds the step bracket, a person would have to remove a cover (sorry I'm new and haven't learned the correct descriptions yet) to access to bolt that goes thru the slider slot and the outrigger itself. Am I missing something or is this the only way to repair the double step? I would like to get this repaired as soon as possible, to avoid further damage. It appears that the step had probably been left down had struck something as there is a slight bend in the front step bracket.
Thanks in advance,
Rod

Check my post on 6/11/11. If you have the same problem this should resolve it. It sounds like the notch at the end of the curved slot is worn. With some careful filing it can be made to work again. I had posted some photos to help resolve the problem, but I'm on my iPod now and the pics don't show up. You may have to go up or down on the thread to find the pics.

Alright

Thanks so much, as I am certain that is the problem. I will get my Dremel out and report back.
