That would make a very nice tow vehicle, especially if they would bring back the Quadrasteer.

For a limited market I would expect a three quarter or one ton. Carry six people, heavy payload in back, possible luggage available on top and still tow the largest AS available. Four wheel drive and choice of robust engines. That would be great.

I have always had Surburbans. I owned 3 diesels, the last one was a 99 3/4 GMC diesel which I sold to a customer in 2002 and he still has it. I see it every Monday. In 2002 I bought a Ford Excursion with a 7.3 diesel. Nothing towed better than that Excursion, but after 3 transmissions in 22 months I gave up and went back to Surburbans. My current ride in a 2004 Yukon XL Quadrasteer which is awesome. Towing a 2005 34' Classic S/O. I always thought what I should have done was rebuild the transmission in the Excursion with heavy duty aftermarket parts.....I would probably still have it today. When it's time to replace the Yukon I will be getting a one ton GMC van with the 8.1 in it.

Not incorrect...and for government use only. Armored Upfitters for most.

I'm just saying, the value of an 11,000 pound GVWR would not drive the price north of a similarly equipped k1500 Suburban by approximately $30 k. Five thousand might be likely, but $30,000 makes no sense except that it would be a limited production vehicle. Fire and Rescue operators have been waiting for a k2500 Suburban, but they won't pay that kind of premium. Fire and Rescue, RV'ers, the horsy crowd, and power boaters will all be necessary in the end to make a business case for something above a 1500 series and all will be price sensitive.

Even if they did offer the 2500 Suburban today the Expedition EL is a better tow vehicle.
The Expedition has independent rear suspension and is really overbuilt. They handle and ride considerably better than a Suburban. The Echoboost has plenty of power and has been well proven in the F150. If possible I would wait for next year and get the 10 speed transmission. The 20" tire is the best factory size.
Just another way you can go if your Sub is getting aged.

You must understand that this is a low volume run with some unique engineering and parts....and doesn't share the efficiencies of the mass production line. That's where the cost is.
