2015 International - floor question

Hi all, I need to install a flat base holder for my new fuel cell (a different threat and different topic) under the bed.

For this, the base plate simply needs to be screwed into the floor.

I am planning to use 1/2 inch long #5 self drilling metal? or wood screws, "forced" into slightly smaller (in diameter) pre-drilled pilot holes. Any advice on whether this is an appropriate route?

This boils down to the question what is underneath the vinyl fake wood that is standard in the newer airstreams? Simply a metal sheet or plywood? How thick? and does it matter if the screws stick out on the other side? Presumably this will be inside the "under-pan" compartment... Sorry if this questions sounds naive but our trailer is in storage right now and I am planning to do the installation at the start of our next trip.

Edit: 5mm, not #5 => 10 x ½ screws is probably the type I will be looking for. Or longer?

Thanks!

Wood screws. You are fastening to plywood underneath the vinyl. It’s 5/8” from the factory on late model trailers.

Just to conclude this - Picked up #10 x ¾ wood screws. ⅝ plywood is ½ thick, the ¾ screws are just a little over ½ but the plastic base adds just a little more. This should work.

We had the stock flooring in our 201`5 23D International Serenity. The dinette leg wore a hole in it in just 2,000 miles coming back from the selling dealership.

When replacing the stock flooring with Marmoleum, I noticed the stock flooring was so thin it had just one side to it.
