Angry Leaks continue...

Had the new AS at the dealer last week for our leaks...said it was bad seals and all were replaced! Picked it up yesterday and headed home in a terrific rainstorm. Pulled up to the house, went to check the inside and wouldn't ya know it....leaks from the skylights, and still the one from the rear window...now we have to go back to Tampa (21/2 hrs away) and talk to the service manager. What a pain. They assured us it was leak free as they ran water over it for "hours" to make sure the leaks were sealed. RRRRIGHT!
This is a new AS, is this common? I thought we were putting our hard earned money into a quality product...we've used it twice!

If I had to do it again, I'd order one without skylights - ours leaked after four years.

If you were driving in rain that is a totally different set of circumstances than the dealer 'running water over it'. I think that highway speed and lots of rain may have exposed what we found on our skylights - the screws that hold the skylight to the mounting frame were overtightened and that cracked the lexan skylight allowing water to enter. Also, not enough caulk was used when the skylight was originally installed. Unfortunately the fix is to replace the skylight.

Best of luck!

I feel your pain. I've got an leak @ the wheel well under the bed on a 19 Bambi. I was looking for AV cables and after a couple of rusty screws I found water and wet insulation between the hot water heater (empty and it's winterized). So onceit warms up I will have to do a watertest to see where it's comming from. I'm taking it stride but it's never fun to have water in a new or newer AS.

Quality product? Obviously you didn't read Air Forums before you bought it!

Hey now....

I read the good bad and ugly before I got ours. Just like anyother SOB there will be issues. I do think for the money they could be better at qc but it also seems to be industry wide. It's like a house. Lots of upkeep and problems even in the new houses. That's why I bought used and had an inspector look her over. I'm still in love with ours even if she's not perfect. And she's not.

Would like to suggest that your next step should be to contact Airstream customer service at Jackson Center directly. Explain your trailer's history thoroughly. Sounds like you need to have leak sources determined using the Seal-Tech, or similar, technique. By pressurizing the interior and spraying a soap solution on the exterior, leak sources can be easily found. Investigate before hand any RV dealer (Airstream or otherwise) that offers the service in your area.

You might also consider going to another Airstream dealer for service.

We had the same expectations and the same frustrations. I think our skylights were replaced 3 or 4 times under warranty. The key is getting this resolved while under warranty!!!
