Window latch adjustment question!

It is easier/cheaper to ask all of you these questions than the dealer Here is a problem I forgot when in Apache Junction--

The kitchen window has two turn and latch thing-a-ma-jigs. One is doing all the work. How do I tighten it? I see from the outside with the window open that there is a nut/tap that is tightenable/removable. Should I remove the thing that sticks up and actually pulls on the window and bend it so it helps hold the window shut?

The nut/tap is as tight as it will go--the piece of metal is just too far out to pull the window in when you close the latch.

Does it have jam nuts? If so back them up a little to move the latch in. If not try flipping the latch that is loose, maybe there will be enough bend so it will work. Or bend it slightly so it grabs. Be careful if you bend it without removing it, the glass is easy to break.

For the same reason, I wouldn't bend on the frame, it doesn't sound like that is the problem.

I have the same windows.

The arm that locks the window is between two nuts. Loosen the outer nut slightly and rotate the inner nut a couple of turns clockwise (toward the trailer side). Tighten the outer nut and try it. You may have to do this a couple of times to get the adjustment right.

When the adjustment appears correct, tighten the outer nut firmly.

Thanks John--I didn't know there is/was an inner nut. I'll try it.

The number of threads showing on the two latches should be about equal. Use the adjusted side as a model.
