mysterious fixture
Can anyone tell me what this fixture is? It is under the door frame on the latch side. It is connected to the step outrigger. It is circular and looks like it should hold something, as it has holding bolts on the sides, but right now it is just sitting there.

No I believe it is the alignment spur for the warp coil bias adjustment. Actually not a clue! Sorry

Probably a mount for the step brace.

Looks to me like it was bent in that shape to enable access to the bolt behind it.
But it could be a warp coil bias adjustment, or flux capacitor cooling unit bracket.

Gee, and here I thought somebody wanted a real answer....
It's obviously a mount for the ODN conduit that runs between the deuterium storage tank and the antimatter bombardment chamber. All you need, besides that bracket, is some antimatter, dilithium crystals, and some heavy helium to create your very own warp drive.
A magnetic containment field would be a good idea, too.

All you guys are just too super cute and original, but I'm betting the OP would rather you were super helpful instead.
I'm thinking the post about stair brace may be of some help. Maybe there's at least one adult here.

Kevin: Is it not just a mount for the aluminium box structure that runs to the left in the picture? Allows access for bolt removal. Engineers like to make things look nice so that they can justify their keep?
Is the picture right side up? or is up on the right----) ???
This old crowd on here likes to give the newbe's the razz. Don't take it serious.

Hoping I'm doing this attachment correctly. I think the shiny bracket is actually supporting the rusty one, which is the support for the step riser. In other words, it's actually supporting the steps below the door.

Thanks for the valuable feedback, particularly Rich. It is a replacement drop-down lever for the steps. For those of you who posted various sarcastic and extraneous comments, I think few years of therapy will undo the damage.
