Very nice mount. Who makes it?

Plasma "altitude sickness"
About the only thing I'd be a little careful with is purchasing a plasma TV iff you camp at high elevations. Not a great concern, but still perhaps something to think about.

It's a Sanus mount I bought from Best Buy. They're cheaper on the net.

The Tv needs a strap, and we are having one installed now on a bracket that is secured to the wall by our sink. I chose a flat screen 17 inch , Costco has the Sharp brand 270 i think , and for 49 dollars got a phillips dvd player to be installed as well. All new airstreams have TV's not sure how they do the strap. You could leave Tv on counter then when traveling disconnect and wrap her up and leave her on the sofa. Good luck! I did read that the Tv DVD combo is not good as in the Samsung the DVd component breaks.

After 4 trips [weekends] our Samsung`s dvd quit at the Tin Can Tourists rally. It was always packed back in original box,and put in tub for safety.Well maybe that is just the model and not the pot holes.Sears is sending in for repair,we`ll wait and see what that costs.Dave

A good rule of thumb is always buy separate components because with combos, the first thing to break tends to make you throw the whole thing away.

LCD tv mount
Here's some pictures of how I solved this in my 20' Safari. I used a Peerless articulating wall mount that's nice because it tilts and swivels in any direction and is long enough to wrap around the wall. I'm pretty sure I got it for under $100 on Amazon.
Extended Reach Wall Arm for 10"- 22" LCD Screens
In between the wall and the mount, I put a length of 2" velcro, so that when I'm traveling I can wrap it around the tv and secure it against the wall. That works really well. On the other side of the wall, the bolts are exposed. If I hadn't sawed off the ends of the bolts, I could have used that to hang my wall decoration, but because I did that, I tapped in a small nail to hang my little turtle.
The 19" tv I got was a cheap Best Buy brand (Insignia) that has a built-in DVD player. Don't know what I paid for it - under $300, I think. It's been almost a year now of traveling with it, and it works just fine...BUT the audio jack broke, which means I cannot plug it into the aux plug of the CD player anymore. That's a bummer for me, because the speakers in the airstream are so much better than the speakers on the tv.
Hope this helps!

Wall or Ceiling Mount
Do these look like possibilities?
What kind of mounting hardware would I need to fasten the mount to the structural rib? What's needed to lock the arms for travel?

I think that direct wall mounting of a Peerless mount to the structural rib will not be the best approach. I'm now looking at a steel 2x2 gooseneck post mounted to the floor and the back of the dinette overhead cabinet that will give me better structural support. The post and adjustable mounting collar are being fabricated now. See attached concept photo. More to follow.

Our 2006 Interstate had a small factory installed flat screen tv, which we replaced with a 17" Magnavox from Sam's Club in January, due to the HD conversion thing. The initial one was wall-mounted with velcro straps which held it during travel. The new one went on the same mount and used the same straps, no problems at all with either, and we have just rolled over 41,000 miles.

Here is my Trailer Entertainment Center. I mounted a 32" LCD/DVD combo. I plan to add an A/V FM transmitter to transmit the TV audio to my stereo speakers. I'll add a 400 W inverter for "Boondocking".

Last year I made two stands for two 17" LCD TV's - photos are here...
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f450...and-56244.html
They were terribly easy to make and are rock solid. I have since bought a shorter post so that they do not stand up any higher over the counter than they need to. We have a 76 Sovereign and have one mounted in the front and one in the rear. I screwed them down using the same threaded pipe brackets that I used on the back of the TV's.
Because they are on these treaded brackets - they also will turn to view from different angles.

No problems with ours at all. Have two LCD/DVD models on wall brackets and they are great! Some units may require wiring the sound to the speakers built in by Airstream or remote speakers for better sound however it's not an absolute necessity. Hook em up to a MotoSat automatic dish on the roof and they're even better and it'll be just like being at home. Of course, it is a camper and unless you're forced to stay indoors because of bad weather why have TVs at all? Then again, we just have to have our techie stuff just in case. Ya just never know when you can't do without more toys. The LCDs are getting so cheap these days you might go to Best Buy and look for a display model that is the last of stock and get a deal. Don't buy the extended warranty and you have one sweet deal for sure. We did that with one of our units.
