Dish Network tuner install

This question may have been posted before, but I am looking for some advice regarding satellite tv. We are looking at "cutting" our cable service and going with the Dish network. As you may know, they offer an RV option by purchasing a VIP211Z tuner (in my case 2) and an antenna such as the Tailgater.

My question is that the tuners are evidently IF, requiring a line-of-site install to work with the remote. I had planned on installing the tuners vertically behind the two tv's in our 30' FC. I have not checked closely, but it seems to me that a horizontal install that would be accessible in our trailer could be problematic. Has anyone come up with a solution? Thanks, Jack

The remotes are Infared (IR) so the tuner needs to 'see' the signal. That said IR bounces around a lot. I would mount them and try them. If you can't get the remotes to work from where you want it is simple to add IR Emitter/Receivers. Those are those little dark peanut shaped things you sometimes see pasted on the front of a TV or stereo to control the device remotely.

Thanks Gary. I was not aware of the Emitter/Receivers. Jack

Besides the IR dish network also has ir/uhf remotes.

I've got a Dish Network receiver installed in the credenza of my 31' ASCL. The remote will work indirectly from the gaucho if I leave the credenza door cracked open.

Since there is enough room, my plan is to install the receiver behind the tv. So, I assume that was going to create a challenge.

All you can do is give it a try. IR does appear to bounce around a fair bit.
