DIY Network Show.

Did ya'll see the DIY Network show last night. They are restoring an AS trailer. It looks pretty good to me. Of course I just started on my AS journey. I have had mine about a year. I bought it cause it didn't leak!!! (I went to look at it during a thunderstorm). Anyway what was that cabinet thingy they put in beside the fridge??? I think they called it a credenza or something like that. Where could I get one of those??? My 74 overlander only has a shelf under the window. But it does have a fold down table.

I'm about to start polishing my silver twinkie,(that's what my 3 yr. old boy calls it). All you guys that have polished trailers, I just have to say WOW!!! I hope mine comes out half as good as those I've seen in the pics.

I bought some stripper yesterday at auto parts store along with a coursre 9 in. pad for my grinder and some rubbing compound. I can/t wait to get to deer lease where my trailer is to start stripping and compounding a small test area. But I know if it turns out like I want it to my deer season will be over. Well I guess I'm done rambling.

Everyone keep up the good work, Scotty

I did see it. We are better than half done restoring a '64 Sovereign. I have never seen the credenza or the fold up table as it should be in ours-until this show. Even worse yet, now my wife has seen it too! Another project for my list!

I just want a place to set my T.V. I haven't been able to talk my wife into the flat plasma t.v. like they had on the show.

STOP!!! Do a search on polishing on this site before you do anything more! I have never polished an Airstream but I don't think you want to take course anything to what will be bare aluminum.

This show began in early/mid October and they started in the rear bath and have moved forward. They are replacing pretty much all of the systems from painting the bath fixtures with acrylic paint to replacing the hotwater systme in the rear closet to replacing the kitchen sink, not to mention the furnace under the kitchen sink. The show installed track lighting in this week's show and a rock guard over the front window. The fold-up table didn't have the extension that many coaches have. This may have come in later models.

Polishing will be covered in a later episode (the next one I believe). From what I have seen, you would do well to wait and see how they do it; they seem to be doing things right.

Off hand I don't know the Ayear(s), but at some point the type aluminium used cannot be polished to a mirrored finish as in earlier years.

DIY Show

Ditto to what Minnie Mate said: Do not use anything coarse to polish. Visit the polishing sites.

Minnie's Mate, eikel1we & Lee,

Have ya'll seen the rigs that have been polished by the guys and gals of this forum???
I don't see how anybody on the DIY network could have any more expertise in doing this,(stripping, polishing etc...), than the folks on our forum. And what I meant by course was F7 compound. I have read the polishing posts constantly for about 3 weeks now so I have a pretty good idea where to start.
Thanks for the concern.

Is that a cool trailer on the DIY show or what!!!
I don't care for the curtains but the rest is pretty neat.
