Are these AGM style? Do they need to be vented?

Wow, just spoke to a Boaters World store near me and they ar now $199 (sale price) plus the coupon would make them $175 each!
Call Boaters World direct at: 1-800-682-2225 and they can ship them to the store near you. (saves shipping costs)
part number: 14-802-0324
I may buy 2!

Even gas mat batteries will out gas hydrogen occasionally. They are required to be vented, but many people do not. The following is from their web site.
Quote:
When used with a properly regulated constant voltage charging system (such as an alternator), the OPTIMA battery will normally not produce hydrogen gas. Occasional gassing can occur when charging at higher voltage levels or in extreme high temperature conditions. In automotive applications this typically will not happen if the alternator/regulator stays below 15 volts.

Thanks Rich. It seems from the Optima website that these are the 3 models to choose from: D27M, D31M or D34M. Anyone have a suggestion? Looks like you can also buy them at amazon.com.

Optima Blue Top. Marine Dual Purpose. These could be the perfect batteries for your Airstream and we love ours and the warranty that comes with them. Winter removal and attachment to a 1 or 2amp trickle charge works well for extended life. No venting required with Optimas. Good luck.

Steve, Did you find a better place to buy these? I'm thinking of using 2 but I'll need to work out the wiring plan first.

Costco carries the Optima line of batteries and seem to have a better price. I have seen them in their Austin tire store, but do not seen them online.
