Yellow was used for back up lights by Airstream for trailers made to sell in Canada according to my Service Manual. You might check that lead.
It's easy to test all the wires by only powering one wire at a time. I've replaced and repaired anything on my
12 volt system so far with a multi-meter, a small battery charger, a jumper light, and a 7-way tester for the towing connection. I'd go to the 7-way and power one wire at a time and see what it takes to make that yellow wire hot.
