Gas line to water heater '73 International

73 center bath with Robert Shaw pilot

i removed all propane lines when i repaired frame and floor.
i have my service manual but can't figure piping from pilot to feed line below.
is shutoff first then up thru belly pan ?
what threads into thermostat regulator/pilot i have the line that goes from feed thru belly pan to pilot and both ends are flared and threaded coupling.

if you have a manual page 110 between #7 and #8 ?

thanks.
jim.

Gas lines

Yes, the shut off valve is below the belly pan. The fitting that is on the pipe you have should screw onto the gas valve and the same goes for the branch line from the gas valve to the "T" in the main line. If you need photos, I can post them for you.

FWIW, the only exception in your trailer to having the shutoff valve below the belly pan originally was the cooktop. It had its shutoff up under the panel that went over the elements.

No problem putting it under the trailer though.

Regulator?

I hope you have a regulator on the propane tank. Just checking!

jim,

Big no-no putting it between the floor and the belly pan! Code is very clear on this: get it out in the fresh air.

It is heavier than air, and will pool in the cavity under your trailer. Can you see why that would be a Major Bad Thing?

yes to regulator.

Aage
flared propane line comes off PILOT then 90s down thru existing hole, down thru bananna wrap and 90s toward middle of trailer.
line shutoff for water heater is about 6" from hole in bananna wrap under trailer.
How is your propane line run?

thanks guys

cuyd,

My trailer lives an hour and a half from my house, and I haven't seen it since last October, so having never looked at it in more than a cursory fashion, I can't tell you at this moment how exactly the gas line runs under my TT. I'll look at it soon when we open it up.

BUT, just to be clear: the entire line is visible, because it only pierces the belly to pass straight though to go to an appliance.

Maybe I misunderstood you, because I thought you were saying that you had hid your gas line in the space between the floor and the belly pan. That's the part that you can't do.

What you describe for running the water heater pipe sounds logical. Where does it go? To a T at the cooktop or refer?

Valve location

The valves on mine are about 6" from where the line comes thru the belly pan. There is a valve for each of the appliances. The refer; water heater; furnace and cook top/oven. The main line feeding everything is 1/2".

i think i did not get the piping explained to well.

I have all the propane lines i removed.
i installed a new oven with 3 burner top from Colonial in NJ.
i bought and installed a used Dometic RM 3807. works fine on AC once i installed a new 12v DC line.
I have to get trailer up in the air then i will run propane lines to refrig, stove and heat.

TG lines were as you described, and i will reinstall the same.

thanks.

Jim, my LP gas lines were sized 5/8" od from regulator to "T" under the curbside cooking stove and heater area where it reduces to 3/8" od in all directions. There are two shut offs in the same area for the cooker and the heater, both 3/8" od, one 3/8" line running across the trailer to the refrigerator (streetside), and one 3/8" od line running over the axles and back out to a curbside shutoff at the water heater location.

The water heater is installed with a 3/8" line from the connection back inside the trailer through the rubber grommet, and back down through the floor to the compression joint at the shut off valve.

All LP gas lines are exposed and hanging under the belly pan by rubber sleeved hose hangers supplied by the auto parts store near my home. The hose hangers are riveted to the frame with aluminum rivets. Mine was all replaced and tested to hold 15# of compressed air for one week before any appliances were installed. After careful installation and soap testing, the only leak to fix was actually in the brass "T" on the testing gauge.

This is the current stage of my project and the picture shows the inside gas line.

These joints, I'll test with gas pressure with soap at a later date.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify that for me, Jim. I was having images of exploding trailers dancing in my head!
