Sewage/Termination Cap 1963 Globetrotter

We are looking for a Sewage/Termination Cap for our 1963 Globetrotter. We heard that you can modify the opening so that it would accept the modern caps found in RV stores. Has anyone done this before? Any suggestions?

We were in the same boat a couple of years ago looking for a termination cap for our '64. We eventually found one, after searching for two years, on ebay...they do come up occaisionally. So we didn't modify our outlet however we did look into doing it. You basically cut off the end of the outlet and either epoxy or otherwise bond the new fitting to the existing sewer line. Then the standard fittings can be used...kinda kludge, but it works...we decided to hold out for the original term cap even though everybody told me it couldn't be found! Patience paid off...good luck on your search!

We just picked up an new 4" PVC assembly for ours. The original is in good shape just it is a pain to store the hose. The new style fits into a 4" PVC pip and is easy to store and is much cleaner way too. I have to cut off the original and cement the new one on, waiting for warmer weather. I found the new assembly at a local camper parts department...

Thought I'd let you folks know that term cap patterns are about 50% complete.

Two styles for the bottom exit (pan handle style) and one for side exit (round, no handle)

The two styles for bottom exit are original and one with a 1" boss in the center for adding a hose fitting for grey water release when boondockin'.

I thought about building one with a boss for grey water on the round, but it could be used only one way, at the bottom of the cap, otherwise back-up will occur if it is at centerline or above, plus REAL messy when you take the cap off. Anyone interested in something like that?

I tried the kit mentioned a couple of years ago and it doesn't fit...sorry! It's my understanding that '64 was the last year that the type of connector I have was used.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We will keep looking for the original part until we get tired of camping near the restrooms. Of course we will keep the suggestion of modifying the opening as a backup. Great information!

Way to go Oscar! When you have your cap ready I'll be in the market. I was lucky enough to buy a termination cap with the threaded hose fitting for a grey water hose drain (sorry I outbidded you Shari) on ebay. However, since it's rarer than a Cubs World Series win I'm in the market for an insurance cap. ( I had a panic stop recently when I realized I'd pulled out of the campground and traveled 50 miles and hadn't safely put the termination cap in the locked and secure glove compartment of the Tahoe in it's velvet lined traveling bag). So cool now to just have the cap and my hose draining to the blue wheeled tank. Mike
