What are these switches for??

O.K. I'm a newbie and have searched this forum over and over with great success on my new 1971 Overlander for all kinda stuff. One that I can't find is; what are the switches that are located on the left and right of the 8-track tape player for? These are toggle type switches that are mounted seperate from the player in the same panel the player is and when switched they seem to do nothing. I can tell by looking down the back of the panel that they do have wires that go somewhere. Are these Airstream switches or do you think a previous owner put them in for something. Thanks for all you guys do to help people like me!

Left one is the "repeat" function. right one is the "Program" selector to jump tracks.

The two little black toggle switches mounted in the faceplate below the 8- track, turned on and off the speaker sets in my 1970 Sovereign. One was for the front speakers and the other for the bedroom speaker set...This whole assembly looked very hand made, and so I imagine the factory could have used the switches for just about anything on a whim, but thats what it did on mine...I did remove it for a practical reasons, my new am/fm/marine/cd weather band radio weighs about 1/10th of the radio 8-track combo....Every ounce counts!! Thats what I tell my wife anyway.

I took mine out too, I can't stand eight-track machines, and am going to up grade that area...when I took it out, I never saw so many pre-historic looking wires in my life...I plastic bagged the player, (which plays) and if anyone wants it make me an offer here in Oklahoma

Wow....working 8 tracks! I remember those...I think the last time I recall listenting to one was in 1974 while riding with a friend in El Paso TX, in his 69 Fire Chicken. I had one of those new fangled cassettes in my 68 Fire Chicken.

I think we were being chased by a sabertoothed tiger or something else along that line that was around in those days!

I not only fixed the 8-tracks in my motorhome bedroom, but bought on ebay a box of tapes at $1 each. I still have cassette player on front and we don't listen to music too much to start with, but it make me feel good to have something that old still working.
That on the side that in our last stay in Virginia Bed and breakfast, the owner who was 7-th generation of the owners played for us an instrument where the disk was about 30'" wide steel plate.

I had a similar set of switches in our '72 Sovereign. In that case one selected the input to the Motorola radio. To the left (toward the radio) for radio and to the right for the 8-track. The other one was power on/off to the 8-track. I don't think it was factory (it didn't look like it!), but it may have been. The old 8-track was nostalgic!
