History Jackpot

So, as I am cleaning wasp nests, mouse droppings and nicotine stained crud from my new (?) 1961 Tradewind, I finally get to the overhead kitchen bin. This trailer, that I hauled off a farm where it sat for 15+ years in very surprisingly good shape, just filthy, has given me fits trying to figure out how things work. So I reach into the cabinet and there is this big manilla envelop. In it are all the original documents from 1961. Catalogs of accessories, how to light the Dometic M50, the water filter manual, literally everything! There are also handwritten instructions from perhaps the original owner to the next telling him how to start up the trailer when traveling. Gold mine. And on top of everything, it is all in pristine condition. Now to just find the time to read it all!

You should photograph or scan that stuff and share it with the rest of us. Great find.

We recently gutted our new (?) '71 Safari. The whole time we kept thinking, wouldn't it be cool if we came across a huge stash of forgotten cash? Instead, we found unused bullets and an old picture from a successful dear hunt. Oh well, the anticipation was fun.

You are so lucky! That is a great find

I got lucky and found the key to my trailer laying loose under the kitchen sink in a pile mouse feces and nesting material. Sucked it up into my Shop Vac before I realized what it was. Don't need a locksmith now. Other than the key all I found was 6 rounds of 7.62 hollow point ammunition and an old sock.

I will share - definitely. Hopefully will have time in the next few days to dig through them. I also found several unspent shotgun shells, one mummified mouse and a half bottle of peach schnapps with the line "Enjoy in Moderation."

Awesome!

When I bought our 1987 Excella, in rummaging through the various storage places, I found, in a shallow bin accessible only by lifting the bed (it was located above the under-the-bed cupboard, but below the board on which the mattress sits) a large manila envelope that contained the wedding photos of the PO - he was 90 yrs old when he sold me his trailer. I popped them into a large mailer and returned them to him. He was most thankful.
