refrigerator on gas

in my 71 international the refridgerator works great on AC and gas. however i can only use it on gas for like a day, for the second time now i have lit my fridge and left it lit for three days, but on the last part of the second day it begins to cool less and on the third day the flame will actually go out. i have 40 pound tanks. this happened once last year and again this last weekend. any ideas.

My first thought is a dirty pilot light. My second thought is a faulty regulator.

Do this: On the second day, take a good look at the pilot light. When appears to be getting dim, light one or more cooktop burners. Leave them on 5-10 seconds, then turn them off. If the pilot suddenly looks good again, it would appear your regulator may need replacement.
