Referigerator smells

Just brought a used 2006 25' Safari, and the PO had some food that went bad in the frige and it smelled. Cleaned the frige with Greenworks cleaner. Still smells. Any advice on what to use to neutralize the odor?

Thanks,
Chris

Try a good dose of white vinegar and let stand over night. Wipe it on straight.
Rinse good the next day.
Good luck,
Joe

I'd wipe it on - and also leave about 1/4 cup in a bowl inside the refrigerator and the freezer overnight. Appliance turned off of course.

as a secondary smell killer, put a box of baking soda with the top removed. I had trouble with smells in my fridge when I bought my home. That overcame it with time. Vinegar is a great cleaner too. Don't mix though!

If those fail, I remember reading that charcoal also absorbs smells but not the kind you BBQ with.

Put unbrewed coffee grounds in a sock and tie it shut. Leave it stored in the fridge.

If the smell is ammonia, you have some problems.

It's called "Granular Activated Carbon" or GAC, and it's the same material you find in Britta water filters. It's usually finely-ground charcoal made from bamboo. One source is "ThinkBamboo" 3 pc Bamboo Charcoal Fridge Freshener - $8.87 : ThinkBamboo.com, A variety of bamboo products for your home.

You could wash with a paste of baking soda and water also.

As you have learned Greenworks doesn't work (on this or any other tough job).
As Kermit laments, "It's Not easy being green."
But then I digress.
From the above, these have worked for me:
> The ritual vinegar cleansing
> The coffee sachet
> The open box of baking soda
What I would add...
> Always leave your refer (and freezer) door open when your Airstream is in storage.
Good luck. This too shall pass.

you can also get granular activated charcoal at any aquarium supply store. It is used in larger filters to remove chlorine and other impurities.

guaranteed to work

This may sound goofy but guaranteed to work.

Three steps. Make sure refrigerator is at room temperature. As in not turned on. You must do all three steps.
1. Make a paste from baking soda and water. Wax, as in like you would a car (whip on, let dry then rub off) all the plastic interior with this mixture.

Let sit over night.

2. Take a mint flavored tooth paste and Wax, as in like you would a car (whip on, let dry then rub off) all the plastic interior.

Let sit over night.

3. Rinse the interior with clean water. (no soap) Let dry before you start the refrigerator.
